WHY IT WAS A TOTAL TEAM LOSS

People like to assign blame whenever the Yankees lose, it’s only natural. I do it, you do it, we all do it. But after Wednesday’s loss it’s really tough to put the blame on one individual player. The Yankees lost 8-1 to the Toronto Blue Jays, and nothing went right. It was just one of those games where everyone crapped out and you just have to forget about it and look forward to the next game.
Hiroki Kuroda started this one. I’m starting to believe that Kuroda is either hit or miss whenever he takes the mound. I’ve tried to deny it, but it’s starting to become a true story. I’ve also defended Kuroda whenever he has a sub-par outing, but I can’t this time around. He went 5 innings in this one, and he allowed a season high 7 runs as well as a season high three home runs. I think it’s safe to say it was his worst start of the year, unfortunately. Hopefully he’ll turn it around next time out.

The offense was also bad, again, in this game. They mustered up just one run and three hits against opposing starter Kyle Drabek, who pitched 7 strong innings. The three hits the Yankees mustered up came on singles from Raul Ibanez and Mark Teixeira, as well as a double from Robinson Cano, who also committed a fielding error to boot. That’s it. The Yanks have scored just 13 runs in their last four games and they’re hitting just .091 (3-for-33) with RISP in that span as well. That, my friends, will not get it done.

Final Score: 8-1 Blue Jays.

What else can I say; it was an awful, awful loss all around. You just have to get the bad taste out of your mouth and look forward to the next game. They’ll be going for the series split as Phil Hughes opposes Drew Hutchison, who allowed Albert Pujols’ first homer of the season, for the Blue Jays.
