BLEEDING YANKEE BLUE: WHO WE ARE
Bleeding Yankee Blue was founded by Robert Casey in September 2010 for one very simple reason: there were too many nights spent yelling at the television, questioning decisions, celebrating wins, suffering through losses and wondering if anyone else out there was feeling the exact same way.
Turns out, plenty of people were.
Ranting is healthy. It gets the frustration out. It starts conversations. And when you're a passionate Yankee fan, sometimes you just need a place where you can say exactly what you're thinking without somebody telling you how you're supposed to feel.
That's why Bleeding Yankee Blue was created.
Since September 2010, BYB has grown from one fan with something to say into a grassroots, independent baseball blog that has reached more than 9 million views. And through all the growth, one thing has never changed: we don't answer to anyone.
There is no corporate filter here. No one hands us talking points. Nobody tells us which players, managers or executives we're allowed to criticize. We praise the Yankees when they deserve it, we call them out when they deserve that too, and we speak our minds the same way true fans do sitting around the dinner table, at the bar, in the Stadium or screaming at the television from the couch.
That's BYB.
And while my name may have started this thing, Bleeding Yankee Blue has benefited tremendously from some terrific people who have brought their own voices and passion to these pages.
Jeana Bellezza-Ochoa is our top writer, and her passion, perspective and commitment to BYB have helped make this blog what it is today. She understands what this place is about because she writes like a fan first — something I've always believed matters more than anything else.
I'm also incredibly thankful to have Alvin Izzo joining us and contributing his knowledge of Yankee history. The history of this franchise matters. The stories matter. The people who wore the pinstripes before today's players matter. Alvin understands that, and having him bring that history to BYB adds another dimension to what we're doing here.
And from time to time, you'll also see Michael O'Hara drop in with a post and his own perspective on our Yankees.
Different voices. Different viewpoints. One common denominator: we're Yankee fans.
Along the way, we also created the BYB Hub, a place designed to give other new and independent baseball blogs some exposure and help them build an audience of their own. Because I've always believed there is enough room for everybody. If you're climbing, reach back and help somebody else climb with you.

That's what grassroots is supposed to mean.
Bleeding Yankee Blue isn't ESPN. We're not YES. We're not owned by some giant media company, and quite frankly, we like it that way.
We're independent. We're opinionated. We're fans.
Sometimes we're right. Sometimes we're wrong. Sometimes we're pissed off. Sometimes we're celebrating like lunatics.
But whatever you read here, you can be damn sure we mean it.
That's been the promise since September 2010.
