IT'S RAINING. CATCH UP ON SOME BYB
Well... tonight's a rain out. No baseball in Baltimore tonight as the Yankees and O's will now play tomorrow, 12pm and then 7pm in a double header. But for now, with a rain out comes some light reading for the BYB audience on a Friday night.
If you have nothing to do on this raw night in the Northeast, put a fire together in the fireplace... put on some Frank Sinatra.
Dim the lights and read some Bleeding Yankee Blue. I have personally looked back in the archives and have chosen some favorites and forgotten BYB posts from the archive. Check them out... and remember, to our audience; You're the ones that keep us going. You're the ones that we look forward to interacting with every day. We love your support and we thank you. Enjoy.

REFLECTING ON THE WORDS OF WISDOM AROUND ME
My colleague and I were talking over lunch this week; we weren't really talking about anything of any real substance, but he said something that stayed with me throughout the day. "Eventually you can see well with just candle light." I laughed at first, but then I thought about it. Eventually, you adjust to your surroundings, giving you the opportunity to see things and do things you never thought possible. In the case of candlelight, the pupils of your eyes eventually open, letting in more light for you to be able to see. Sure, it takes a little time, but with some patience, you will be able to see. True, honest and wise words from someone who appreciates the physical capacity of our bodies.
Later in the evening of the same day, I was watching the Yankees on the YES Network and Michael Kay was talking about how statistics say that when a team is playing poorly before heading into the post season, it doesn't mean that the team won't go far. In reality, it's the opposite; many teams who finish the season strong, don't go deep into the post season. But just as Michael Kay let those words escape his tongue, he quoted the great baseball play by play analyst Vin Scully. "Statistics are used much like a drunk uses a lamppost; for support, not illumination." Huh... I never thought of that. This means to me that truthfully, anything can happen; if it's meant to happen. Like the New York State Lottery touts, "You never know."
I know this week has been about Yogisms with the passing of the great Yogi Berra, and I won't be able to get through an article about quotes and words of wisdom without quoting our great number eight. "You can observe a lot by watching." I couldn't agree more. As an administrator at a School of Education, we tell our pre-service candidates to just watch what kids do in the classroom and take notes. Then we ask them to share their observations. You can learn a lot by just quietly watching. Derek Jeter believes that. He wrote an amazing tribute to Yogi calling him a quiet observer. TED Talk speaker and New York Times Best Selling Author, Bryan Stevenson believes that... he observed some of the most remarkable people in action including the great Rosa Parks. Focusing on your own professional learning through the lens of expertise of others is one of the best ways to grow.
My words of wisdom to you: pay attention to the small things around you; the glimmers of sunshine, the gestures of authenticity and signs of hope. And even if this post season isn't our finest, believe in the future of the Yankees, because as Chicago Cubs' fans boast, "There's always next year."

AROD NOMINATED FOR AL COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR
After a season-long suspension in 2014, Alex Rodriguez had a lot to prove. With the legal debacle and everything he faced, it was hard to see a time when ARod would be welcomed back to the fold. As fans, most of us were ready to write him off. How would a 40 yr old, who attempted to sue the MLB and the players union, that hasn't played ball in a year, come back and be an asset to the team?
Easy! He just plays ball.
It's really been that simple for ARod. He kept quiet during the 2014 season, and as soon as he could, started putting in work to return to the field ready to play. And it's paid off. With the exception of the last few weeks of the season, ARod has been a serious threat at the plate. He's got a .252 batting average with 33 homers. He ranks second to Mark Teixeira on the Yankees. It's more than most people expected, and it's truly helped the team. Even the Players Union has noticed.
According to the New York Daily News, Joe Girardi was pleased to learn about the nomination. "I think it's good that people have recognized what he's done on te field and not let what's happened in the past cloud their judgment," he said. "He's been extremely important to our club, extremely important to our clubhouse and he's had a really good year."
ARod really has done incredibly this season, despite what your personal opinions of him are. He's been a serious asset to the team, on and off the field. The award is voted on by the players, and the winner will be announced November 9th on the MLB network.
Best of luck to you, Alex. You certainly have earned this nomination.

STUMBLING THROUGH DELUSION
"I don't block people unless they're belligerent, curse or send me too many tweets."
--CJ Nitkowski after feeling pressure from his provocative Choke article
I'm not a mean person. I just like to make sure that when I am misunderstood or attacked for nothing... the person that did that action is reminded for the rest of their life that they made a silly mistake. I'm a Leo... I hold grudges. That's on me...
CJ Nitkowski can be delusional. I only bring this up because earlier this week I recognized something pretty significant about him being a so-called analyst... he believes his opinions are law. He doesn't like to be disagreed with, he doesn't like to be questioned. He appears to think he's untouchable. He's blind when it comes to criticism and isn't too nice about it either.
I'm not going to get into a big thing with the back story and disappointment I found this week when I tried to engage him, politely on social networks about his opinion of Bryce Harper being choked publicly by Jonathan Papelbon. Now look, I find Pap to be a nasty player. I find Harper to be incredibly arrogant. Those are my opinions. I root for neither, even though I know for a fact that there is talent all around there. But when someone writes something about a confrontation and I disagree, I want people to hear my side. That's what we do here at Bleeding Yankee Blue. We're a blog, we express opinion. You want to hear my opinions, you want to hear from all of our great BYB writers. We're not nasty, we're pointed. Here's the thing though... we also have a dialog with every one of you, agree or disagree... that makes us unique. That's why you come to BYB.
CJ Nitkowski felt it necessary to bring to light something that many non-pro baseball players already realize. Players fight. Now, let me be clear... I know that. I played ball pretty deep into my young life, never ever coming close to Pro, but my point is, I've seen fights in the dugout and clubhouse and it's been happening since Little League and by the way, it's been happening in competitive sports FOREVER. Men fight. Boys try to be Alpha-dog. I've heard kids in my Little League dugout tell others that they suck, just to kill a teammate's confidence so they can feel better about themselves. It's wrong, but it's been going on for decades and no one knows that more than I. I've seen fights, punches thrown, the whole thing. Again, men are men, it's what we do. One thing I've never seen is someone get choked.
Choking is, in my humble opinion, worse then a punch to the face. You can kill a guy. That's what I took issue with when Nitkowski wrote his piece basically saying that anything goes in a baseball clubhouse. And he can tell people that's not what he said... but it's essentially what he said. Don't get it twisted. I felt like that should be open for discussion. Many did as a matter of fact. Oh, and for the record, and this is a teaser... BYB will be releasing a terrific interview with Tanyon Sturtze next week and we asked him about the Papelbon-Harper fight. Sturtze speaks about fighting in baseball clubhouses saying that teammates fight all the time, and it should be done in the clubhouse. It's not a big deal.
Absolutely Mr. Sturtze, but choking out in public or private is never OK. Again, that's what I took issue with.
As you know, CJ Nitkowski "muted" me on Twitter earlier this week. Trust me, I don't lose sleep over it. I was more blown away by the fact that he doesn't allow anyone else to express opinion against him. This comment came in from a reader after we wrote THAT CHIP ON YOUR SHOULDER IS OLD & TIRED:
"I am not surprised to see this. Nitkowski did something very similar to me twice in the last couple of weeks when I disagreed with articles he wrote. He engages in personal attacks when you disagree with him. Its childish and juvenile behavior on his part. Am I surprised that he thinks violence is a perfectly acceptable way to handle disagreements? Nope."
There's plenty more of those but I just can't figure out why CJ doesn't like to have intelligent dialog with folks who disagree. I mean, he's an analyst, he's not a prophet. And he appears to side with Papelbon. I find that strange.
@MikeGianella He needs media training. Or he can be Bonds if he wants.
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) October 2, 2015
In a nutshell, he's giving Pap a free pass, basically saying choking should be done behind closed doors. He kind of blasts Harper for speaking out of turn. He essentially saying it's Harper's fault, Harper started it. I just can't get passed that, I'm sorry. This tweet made me laugh:
@maxl100 I don't block people unless they're belligerent, curse or send me too many tweets. I just mute them.
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) October 1, 2015
I learned that CJ's delusional. Last time I checked, I wasn't belligerent, I didn't curse and I didn't send him too many Tweets... but I got muted. Let's review:
@BleednYankeeBlu @mikeyoh21 I didn't ask for your opinion on this and neither did MLB.
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) September 30, 2015
@BleednYankeeBlu aaannnnnd mute.
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) September 30, 2015
@CJNitkowski right. Back at ya sweetheart.
— Robert Casey (@BleednYankeeBlu) September 30, 2015
Now, you can tell me that I'm spending way too much time on this... you're right. I just find it fascinating that this guy doesn't think he did anything wrong... not with the column, but with the flood of disagreement that followed. I mean, is this guy kidding?
@BmoreDaveS Hi troll. Not even close to the same thing. If you need "how does baseball work" lessons hit me up. Also, read my column better.
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) October 1, 2015
Sorry. You can't write a hot topic article and assume folks aren't going to ask you questions... and sure, some are being silly in their questioning, but it comes with the territory. He's gotta have a thicker skin. I leave you with one of my favorites on the web... Craig Calcaterra of Hardball Talk that put it perfectly:
@craigcalcaterra when i suggested that he muted me. I could not have been more polite. He's not very good with criticism
— Robert Casey (@BleednYankeeBlu) October 1, 2015
I'm done now. Time to move on.Don't be haters out there. You have a provocative post, article, whatever... have a dialog. All opinions matter. No one is better than anyone else out there. Trust me, CJ Nitkowski certainly isn't.

BIG YANKEE WIN & TUMMY STICKS IN THE BRONX!
I know... I'm gross... sue me.
Before tonight's win, you just didn't know what would happen with the Yanks. I'll admit it, I was mad. I was strict with my request... "The Yankees need to win this game tonight, shake hands, hit the showers, shut the lights off in the Bronx, go home and get a good, hard cry in. No champagne. No celebration. Go home and cry it out. That's because the Yankees are not playing like champions." You can read that in LOCK IT UP!
Bottom line... I was angry that my team was sucking the life out of me. Now, we won, not only that, it was the 10,000 franchise victory, and you know what? I'm not mad anymore... that's big. Plus, we're going to the post season! All is forgotten. The Yankees have a shot and life is good for Yankee fans again.
The big moments tonight were done by the young guys. Rob Refsnyder has been downright incredible since he was called up to replace Stephen Drew because of his dizzy spells. Greg Bird's been huge since he came up to help the team after Tex went down. Dellin Betances... he shut the Sox down big tonight.
Erica Morales was doing cart wheels... that's because she's obsessed with Betances... and that's not a bad thing. The youngsters proved good, and while there were a hiccup or 2 near the end of the season, the fans wanted to keep the kids, and the kids did well!
We won tonight. I'm not going over pitching, although, Adam Warren was great, and I'm not doing a play by play... we know the Yanks are in. What I will say is this; I'm happy. I'm very happy the Yankees are in. I know you are too... so bottom line, as much as I was being a tight ass about the Yankees NOT celebrating... they should. It's a long season. It's important.
Blow off some steam. Enjoy this. You deserve it.

REFSNYDER'S MAKING THE MOST OF AN OPPORTUNITY
This Yankee season has seen the introduction of a few of our Baby Bombers to the Bronx. Two of them, Greg Bird and Luis Severino, have benefited from injuries to regulars and parlayed their promising performances into everyday (or every fifth day as the case is with Severino) roles. Others, like Slade Heathcott, Jose Pirela, and Mason Williams have flashed their potential but have fallen victim to management's philosophy that players from the farm system are nothing more than putty to be used when a regular falls - never getting a fair shot. One Baby Bomber however, has finally won enough of manager Joe Girardi's confidence to gain a legitimate chance to prove himself. That player is second baseman Rob Refsnyder.
For Refsnyder, 2015 has been a roller coaster ride. The off-season began with the expectation that he and Pirela would battle in the spring for the starting spot at second base. That was quickly doused by GM Brian Cashman when he signed Mendoza-line dreaming Stephen Drew (he hit .150 over 46 games with the Yankees, and .160 overall in 2014) and promptly named him the starter. Relegated to AAA Scranton, Refsnyder hit .290 through July 10th and had only two errors in the field after June 1st.
In the meantime, Drew was proving that 2014 wasn't a fluke - hitting .182 in the same time frame. Perhaps seeing an opportunity to take a look at what they had in "Ref", the Yankees promoted the 24-year-old and put him in the lineup against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. In only his second game, Refsnyder went 2 for 4 with a two-run home run that proved to be the game deciding hit in a Yankees' 8 - 6 win. Following two more hitless games, he was sent back to Scranton after the July 18th loss to Seattle.
In spite of questions from fans and media regarding the "obsession" with Stephen Drew, the Yankees kept Refsnyder at Scranton while Drew stumbled his way at the plate, only breaking a .200 average on August 30th. Drew would get his average "up" to .211 before slowly slipping back to .201 - where it currently rests. If it should stay there, Drew will go into Yankees lore as the team's worst hitting regular second baseman....ever.
Fortunately for Yankees fans, Dustin Ackley came off the DL and started hitting. That resulted in Drew losing playing time (Ackley is left-handed hitter - same as Drew). Brendan Ryan - the right-handed complement to Ackley/Drew - began the season on fire at the plate, and had his average up to .316 on August 1st. Unfortunately, he couldn't keep it there, and has looked like the righty version of Drew; hitting just .167 since. In the meantime, Refsnyder's roller coaster ride once again began its ascent when he was part of the September call-ups. Both Cashman and Girardi repeatedly alluded that the young second baseman would soon make another appearance in the lineup.
Only, the games continued to roll by without so much as a late pinch hitting role for him. When questioned about it, Girardi gave what may go down as one of the dumbest replies a manager has ever made: "He spent the whole year in Triple-A. He doesn't know the pitching staffs up here.". Apparently the binder-bound manager had forgotten Refsnyder's July call-up, or the fact that Heathcott (called up in September with others) had also spent the season at Scranton, yet Girardi had no problem inserting him into games. Clearly, "Ref" had fallen out of favor with Binder-Joe.
As he has throughout the season, Refsnyder patiently waited for his chance, and once he got it, made the most of it. In starting four of the last six games for the Bombers, the prospect has hit .385, and more importantly, proved he could handle the field - going errorless. Many had wondered if the bias against him stemmed from his slow development as a fielder.
During Spring Training I felt the Baby Bombers had far out-played the Yankees' veterans. I was excited about the promise this team has for the years to come. As we approach the end of the 2015 regular season campaign, it is clear that my optimism was justified. The ability of players like Refsnyder to wait out management's obsessions, and then seize the opportunities presented - as he has - shows great character on top of the talent.
Should Cashman be able to restrain himself( letting Stephen Drew fly this off-season), and not trade away our future, a Dustin Ackley / Rob Refsnyder combination at second base in 2016 will finally give us an offensive threat at the position which has been missing since Robinson Cano left.
Refsnyder has made the most of his chances, and at the very least deserves as much.

THAT CHIP ON YOUR SHOULDER IS OLD & TIRED
"I didn't ask for your opinion on this and neither did MLB."
--CJ Nitkowski to me
I'm not a hater. I'm just not. I also don't believe in violence, abuse, murder, chaos... you know, stuff that many are not fans of. That's just common sense stuff. The story I'm about to share was all over Twitter yesterday, and it was embarrassing. But not for me.
Let me back up for a moment and explain. You see, CJ Nitkowski, former baseball player is probably a pretty nice guy. But truth be told, I'd never know that. That's because he never gave me a chance to find out. Too bad for him because his first impression sucked.
He wrote a very provocative piece the other day involving the choking incident involving Jonathan Papelbon and Bryce Harper. I know that because he keeps Tweeting it. Anyway... It was the choke seen by everyone. I'm gonna tell you something... it was shocking to see and I'm not the only one who thinks that way.
In Nitkowski's piece, which I am always happy to link, I suggested that he was off base and that I disagreed with him. I even used the words "lame analysis" because what he did was try and insert himself, a ballplayer, into the story. Instead of going with the obvious dramatics of the incident, the choking of a person publicly, he chose to talk about the "clubhouse mentality". Something the majority of Americans know nothing about, nor care. In fact, when you break it down, it has nothing to do with the incident at hand. Anyway, here are some quotes from his piece:
" The clubhouse is like no other place. It’s not like an office, and it’s not like your weekend softball team. Don’t compare a clubhouse to where you work, it’s completely different...
...Papelbon is everybody’s favorite punching bag but it’s not deserved here. This is a game that governs itself; it always has and always will..."
I took exception to these quotes because in this incident, it didn't happen IN a clubhouse. Again, in a boys club, what happens behind closed doors is policed by the organization. Papelbon went public with it though. That's the most important part of this incident. What SHOULD have happened is irrelevant, that's because it didn't happen that way. The incident was public and not IN the clubhouse. Let me go further.
If this happened behind closed doors, most likely no one would have known about it. It didn't, so why write about it? CJ polled a dozen former and current players giving their opinion on the choke incident. He asked them about it in it's full context; From the moment that Bryce Harper went to the media and called Papelbon's hitting of Manny Machado "tired" and wondered if he would be next.
CJ then set it up when Papelbon got on Harper's ass, and then wrote about what happened next in the dugout... them screaming at each other... then the choke. Oddly, the biggest part of the incident, that choke, CJ left out of his entire article. Never once is the word CHOKE written in his piece. Why? Instead, he asked players how they felt about the incident, or scuffle or whatever. It was a mixed bag, but most sided with Papelbon, hence his title: "PLAYERS OVERWHELMINGLY SUPPORT PAPELBON IN DUST-UP WITH HARPER." Well, they're baseball players... why wouldn't they? If that's the culture, the baseball mentality, it fits CJ's argument for his piece, doesn't it? That's not analysis ladies and gentlemen... that's bias.
This "poll" shouldn't have been a player poll. It should be a public poll. Every day folks should have been polled. The incident was public, not a private baseball incident. When you poll baseball players, of course many in the poll would side differently, they live in that culture. I don't, my kids don't, neither do you. You know how I know that? Because Nitkowski claimed to have it all figured out to a number of people on Twitter yesterday, acting like the all mighty knower of everything IN the clubhouse:
@jcrystoff Fair enough. But you don't play baseball so your opinion doesn't really matter. Fights happen in all sports. MLB is not unique.
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) September 30, 2015
Silly... and rude."YOUR OPINION DOESN'T REALLY MATTER". This is a person under the FOX and MLB umbrella and he's talking smack to every day folks like that? That's a problem. Needless to say, I too disagreed with Nitkowski and that's what should happen when there's an opinion piece. People disagree. There's usually a dialog on social networks, some agree, some don't and you move on. Not the case with Mr. Nitkowski apparently.Yesterday morning I released LAST TIME I CHECKED, CHOKING IS AN ASSAULT. It was a counter to Nitkowski's piece and I wanted him to see it. Why write about the guy and not let him know... right? I wanted him to know I disagreed. I almost felt like I should do it as a courtesy as to not talk about him behind his back or something. I was no where near disrespectful. I merely sent my story his way. That's when it started:
@BleednYankeeBlu @MyMiaLove @Joangyankee @donnaN64 @KenneyLaurie @mikeyoh21 When was the last time you checked? Be honest.
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) September 30, 2015
Clearly he was baiting me, mocking me and then it took a nasty turn. I didn't expect that. I was not looking for a fight. I merely disagreed and wrote that in my piece:"CJ Nitkowski is wrong...In the end, Nitkowski and I disagree 100%, but here's what I know... he's not gonna come after me and choke me out. Most likely he'll tell me I'm "way off base" and I don't know the clubhouse mentality... and that's fine, I don't.Yeah... it didn't go the way I guessed. CJ had his back up and went after me:
But clubhouses don't get a free pass for a Kung Fu move that is known to murder people."
@BleednYankeeBlu @mikeyoh21 I didn't ask for your opinion on this and neither did MLB.
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) September 30, 2015
@GreedyStripes @BleednYankeeBlu @mikeyoh21 They were brutal. People don't like opposing opinions sometimes. I should just stay away.
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) September 30, 2015
Then, in a mysterious move, he tweeted this:
I'm going to be Tim today. Join me and together we can make the internet a fun place again. pic.twitter.com/PwbOnicoht
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) September 30, 2015
Alittle unstable was my guess at that point. I mean, let me get this straight; He didn't like my opinion. He hammered me. Then disagreed with me disagreeing with him. He tweeted publicly that people don't like opposing opinions and that he should stay away... but did exactly what he was blaming others of doing? Wow.
In the end, we learned something pretty significant here. My opinions don't matter. Yours don't either. Only CJ Nitkowski's do, because he's a former baseball player and he knows everything.
Strangely, that's not how social media works, CJ. When you write something provocative, expect to get blow back, pal. And remember something; as a public figure as CJ Nitkowski is... have some professionalism. I have never seen someone quite as rude as what I witnessed yesterday. Disagreements happen a lot, but this was over the line. Now I never once dropped a swear word at Nitkowski. I never told this guy to go F himself. I never told him he was an idiot, none of that. Others have by the way. I didn't. I merely told him I disagreed.
The irony here is that I mentioned in my article that CJ and I would disagree but "he's not gonna come after me and choke me out." It was tongue and cheek... but he did:
@BleednYankeeBlu aaannnnnd mute.
— CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) September 30, 2015
Fantastic foreshadowing, isn't it? He Twitter Choked me. Unreal. Why am I writing this? Because I'm kind of shocked. If you read the pages of BYB, you know no one here is hateful. You know we deliver solid pieces about family, love, the Yankees, kindness and the like. In short, CJ messed with the wrong guy. I refuse to sit here and take that from a public figure. It's humiliating and unwarranted.
Now, as a reader of BYB, I do NOT want anyone to go blasting Nitkowski for his behavior, he's clearly JV. He can live with that. All I wanted to do is report the story. It's an important one. The Papelbon-Harper incident was NEVER about a clubhouse baseball mentality. It was always about a choke grab used on a teammate and human being because of a screaming match and media leak. That's something that should never happen anyway... but definitely NOT on live television.
And this is just a good lesson in general. This world is full of hate, but we can all have a dialog about opinions without getting nasty. There's no reason why Nitkowski had to escalate it the way he did, but he did and that's sad for him. Sure, he was probably getting attacked from all sides, but I didn't... I just disagreed. There's a major difference.
Note to self, don't bother with Nitkowski, he might choke me out. He's a bully.

OAKLAND A'S HIRES FIRST FEMALE COACH. HOLLA.
Sports is a male dominated world. It's not an opinion, but a point of fact. From the athletes to the journalist. It truly is a man's world when it comes to sports. In the last few years, women have been making huge strides in the sport. Just a few months ago, I wrote about Melissa Mayeux who became the first female in history to be added to the MLB's international registration list. In July, the Arizona Cardinals hired the first female coach in NFL history, Jen Welter. In 2014, Becky Hammon became the first full-time female coach in any major U.S. pro sport. And now there is one more name to add to the growing list of females that are making strides in sports.
The Oakland Athletics just hired a new guest instructor for their Instructional League team, Justine Siegal. In 2009 Siegal became the first woman to coach men's professional baseball, when she served as a first base coach for the Brockton Rox, and independent club, according to the Washington Post. She also threw batting practice in the MLB in 2011 for the Cleveland Indians, so she is no stranger to professional baseball. Siegal is the founder and head coach of Baseball for All, a nonprofit organization geared to support and encourage girls playing baseball by creating opportunities for them. She has a Ph.D. in sports and exercise psychology.
A's assistant general manager David Forst released a statement on the hiring of Siegal:
"We're thrilled that Justine will be joining us for Instructional League. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise from years of playing, coaching, and teaching the game, and all of our young players stand to benefit greatly from her time in camp."
The coaching position runs from October 7th to the 17th. While it is not a full-time position, the possibility for her to be brought on is there.
As females continue to break through into the sports world, I feel grateful that I am able to witness it. It's even more gratifying that this news came to me by my 10 yr old, a Girl Scout that believes that women can continue to break glass ceilings. It's encouraging and empowering.
Siegal, the greatest of luck to you. Myself, my daughter, and every girl that ever believed... we're all rooting for you.

THE YANKEES ARE KILLING ME SOFTLY
"I'm mentally exhausted. I'm not sure we could even beat the Tennessee Balloon Knots at this point."
It's tough to be a Yankee fan. The games are long and hard. We needed a win badly last night. Losing 2 to the Red Sox is horrible. Losing 3, when we really need to clinch to get to the playoffs is worse.
Masahiro Tanaka was not spectacular. I was asked if I had any Fireball handy... my drink of choice.
For the love of all things... stop d*cking around, Yankees! @BleednYankeeBlu Happen to have anymore of that fireball? #Aggravated #MLB

I did not... I had Tennessee Fire:

Sometimes a drink helps take the edge off. Luckily for me... I don't drink often when the Yankees play. If I did... I'd be an alcoholic.
The Yankees were able to tie the game 5-5 last night. Meanwhile... there was Twitter comedy as many Yankee fans just wanted a win and were making cracks here and here about our lack of energy. I tried to be funny, but it's hard when we leave 15 on base last night. FIFTEEN!
And so, I went to bed. I was emotionally exhausted and the game was still tied 5-5:
In the end, Chasen Shreve and Andrew Bailey couldn't handle the Red Sox and we lost the game 9-5.
And what do you want me to say? The Yankees had major opportunities last night. Leaving 15 men on base is no way to win. It's horrendous and embarrassing. Now, blame is going to happen all around. Most of you are gonna be all over Joe Girardi. Girardi sometimes tinkers alittle too much, this is true, but he doesn't swing the bats. The Yankees are in a slump, plain and simple.
Let me tell you something though... if the Yankees fail to reach the post season this year, and trust me, it's very possible, a head has to role, and that head could be Girardi's. Sometimes when you need to send a message, you need to go to the top. Not sure how Steinbrenner feels about Cashman right now, but don't be surprised if his name comes up as well.
The Yankees are in a spot...a tough one. Again, it's frustrating, annoying, call it whatever you want to call it. I call it baseball, and sometimes in baseball, slumps happen. Sometimes, slumps happen at the wrong time too. This series the Yankees did not show up, and that's unfortunate. It should not be that way... it just shouldn't.
Here's your final. Let's look to today for a win.
Final: Red Sox 9 - Yankees 5
It's killing me softly.

It's amazing how with a beard Andrew Miller looks like a dick, and now with the Yankees, clean shaven... he looks adorable #BYB

We couldn't get the big hit. Our pitching in the late innings held the Sox for alittle bit, but it was a struggle when it came to our offense. And so, I went to bed. I was emotionally exhausted and the game was still tied 5-5:
OK. I love you all, but I'm going to bed. If the yankees want this, they'll get it done tonight. We can't all hold their hand. #BYB

That was followed by one of my writers breaking my balls...
@BleednYankeeBlu Lightweight. Good night. LOL

Ike's fired. I'M KIDDING!!!!In the end, Chasen Shreve and Andrew Bailey couldn't handle the Red Sox and we lost the game 9-5.
