STUD RIGHTY OUT OF SEATTLE COULD FIT NICELY IN PINSTRIPES

There is alot of speculation on what upgrades the Yankees are looking for. I know what I want. I want a new catcher and a new shortstop.  But there is also alot of talk about getting another reliable arm.  

The latest suggestion by a few publications out there is that the Yanks should keep a close eye on Seattle Mariners right-hander Emerson Hancock as the trade deadline approaches. The 27-year-old offers exactly what contenders are always searching for—young, affordable starting pitching with multiple years of team control.

Hancock is under club control through 2030 and is making just $793,300 this season, giving the Yankees a cost-controlled arm without adding another expensive contract or creating additional luxury tax concerns. With long-term questions surrounding the rotation, he's the type of pitcher who could help now while remaining part of the club's future. The rumor however is that the Cubs may be in on him.

But look, the deal also makes sense because of Seattle's pitching depth. The Mariners already boast one of baseball's deepest rotations with Logan Gilbert, George Kirby, Bryan Woo, Bryce Miller, and Luis Castillo, while also having top pitching prospects waiting in the wings. That could make Hancock expendable if Seattle looks to address its need for right-handed offense.

For the Yankees, it could be a perfect fit. Rather than taking on a veteran with a massive salary, they could land a pitcher with upside, major league experience, and more than four years of club control. Hancock may not be the biggest name available, but he checks nearly every box the Yankees should be looking for at the deadline.
