Remember. Myles Straw said Yankee fans were the worst fanbase on the planet. That was because the group of Yankee fans that threw trash on the field, a batch of bad apples in right field made all us Yankee fans look bad. But let's remember the context.
Yankee fans were razzing the opponent like they always do, just like any other fan who loves any other team on the planet. (I've been the Cleveland, those fans are just as passionate and razz-filled as Yankee fans are.) And so if we're gonna start talking about the "worst"... wouldn't this moron think about his picking a fight with the fans before saying we were the worst? Seems weird to me. This video is ridiculous. Kudos to the fan who shot it. And shame on Straw for being just as ridiculous as a razzing fan. If you're in the bigs, like it or not, you gotta take. Who the hell climbs a fence and picks a fight?

Look, baseball fans... and I mean most hardcore ones, usually want results and get incredibly passionate and insane when things don't go their way. That's historic. Why? Well... these days it comes down to the amount of money we pay for to get into the building. And so, fans feel like they're renting a seat for three hours.... they're paying way too much for food and drinks, and in some regard... subliminally, those players work for them for that length of time. That's not the way it works... but for sure it's how they feel. Yesterday at Yankee stadium Yankee fans literally harassed Indians players after the Yankees walk-off win. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A SECOND. The Yankees won, not lost and they decided to throw garbage at players. For what reason? I have no idea. But they did.
But look, the idea of fans getting a little careless and out of control has been going on for years. The idea of your team winning is all you want because that means your hard-earned money was worth it. When teams lose, you feel like you lost a bet. I remember the 1970's Yankees very well. Winning a World Series mean storming the field. Touching the players if you could. We all remember Chris Chambliss after Game 5 of the 1976 ALCS when he literally clocked a guy because he knew he had to reach all bases for it to count. He never reached home because it just wasn't safe.
Fans are fanatical. Fans feel like they are part of it. And because of fanatical fans, win or lose, that's why rules were put in place to keep fans away. Why? Because it gets dangerous.
I think about that time Rick Monday of the Dodgers saw two fans lighting the American flag on fire in the field and Monday, thinking quickly ran and saved the flag from being burned. It was a heroic move, but at the time, Monday was just reacting because fans were on the field up to no good.
That act was despicable. But fans were there to make a statement, and they were destroyed after that.
With tighter restrictions for fans, the angrier they get, the more rabid they get and the crazier they get. There's always a guy that will try and run out on the field and get away from security just to say they can. There are plenty of fans that mess with ushers and police at games. I've seen it plenty at games. Fans feel like their beer muscles need to take over because they made it into the building and nearly spent $500 bucks or more for those few hours. They rented their space "to do whatever they want."
Is it right? Nope, but you know what is, ok? Razzing guys on the field. Telling them they suck, booing them, whatever. That's part of the game. Sorry to all the pro fans out there. It's what we pay for and it's what you signed up for.
You know what's not, ok? Picking fights with fans who razz, and then when others do something stupid like we saw the other day at Yankee stadium with the trash, group all the fans together as "the worst". Straw can act like he's innocent in all of this, but he ignited the whole shitshow like it or not.
I tweeted that Straw will be a wanted man at Yankee stadium from now on. He'll have an X on his back. It wasn't done to pose a threat, but to make a statement.
Do you honestly believe Straw will have a boo-free game now for the rest of his life at Yankee Stadium? He has an X on his back because of crap like this.
