Josh Donaldson is still hurt, and it looks like he will still be hurt for a few more weeks. Are Yankee fans sad? Are Yankee fans distraught about it? Nope.
Donaldson is at the end of his career. I like the guy, but it is clear he's slowed down. And with this new movement of youth making an impact for the Yankees early, it just feels right that Donaldson should take as long as he needs to recover. In other words... we're ok without you right now.
MLB Trade Rumors writes:
" Josh Donaldson has been diagnosed with a “Grade 1-plus strain” of his right hamstring, manager Aaron Boone tells reporters, including Chris Kirschner of The Athletic. Boone says Donaldson will probably miss a couple of weeks. With Donaldson out, the Yankees have mostly turned to DJ LeMahieu at the hot corner. Utility players Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Oswaldo Cabrera have also been in the mix, though prospect Oswald Peraza is getting the start..."
Having Cabrera up... having Peraza play... shows the Yankees are also willing to move on, especially if the youth movement do well. And so, while I feel bad for broken down Donaldson, we have to move on as a fan base.
Too many injuries... we need to get back on track.
