It was hot, humid and if you were a Yankee fan waiting for the jolt of the Yankee youth movement... you got it today and none of that "real feel" 110 degrees crap really mattered.
It's crazy how things happen. ARod left last night. Today, it was the arrival of the Iron Giant, Aaron Judge... and Wonderboy, Tyler Austin. And it was big.
The Yankees won today and I'm not going to get into a thorough recap of the game. Let's just say that Austin and Judge contributed quite well making some history, and that we got a nice win with Masahiro Tanaka going 9-4 this season, pitching 7 innings, giving up just 4 runs, and you had offense galore from the baby bombers as well as guys like Gregorius and amazingly... even Hicks had a few nice shots and 3 RBIs.
But while the win was great and important, there was almost a subliminal changing of the guard today sending Alex Rodriguez off last night, and today, seeing the kids do damage and offer up alittle MLB history.
Back to Back homers in each of their first at bats! Good for Judge and Austin! Good for momentum and hopefully good for all of us as we move forward in the Bronx.
I'm not gonna say this team is excellent. It's far from it. I will say that we are creeping closer and closer to the wild card, and with an youth injection like we saw today... I see great things.
Congrats to Aaron and Tyler. Welcome to the Bronx!
