THE YANKEES HAD THE FENWAY FIRE
Whatever the hell that means. Look, trying to come up with titles isn't always the easiest thing to do. Some days it flows off the tongue. Other days, I'm exhausted or something. Whatever the case, the Yankees won, the Red Sox lost, and the Blue Jays won again. The Blue Jays always seem to win... son of a bitch.
Anyway, Masahiro Tanaka was on the mound for us today. He went 6.1 innings, gave up 4 hits and 4 runs. He struck out 5. Not his best performance, but the important thing is he kept the Yankees in the game. Not only that, the pen, who gave up 4 runs combined, did their best as well. The important part was the Yankee bats were full of fire today, Fenway Fire... and they were able to get things going and going quite well.
In the second inning, Greg Bird hit a 2 run home run. He was followed by John Ryan Murphy cranking out a solo shot. Chris Young then singled knocking in Didi Gregoirus. Alex Rodriguez then singled knocking in 2 more.
Next was Carlos Beltran knocking in ARod with his own 2 run homer.
In the 3rd, Stephen Drew and another 2 run home run. Then Didi Gregoirus came up in the 5th and homered. By now it was 12-1 Yankees.
The Red Sox had a mini-rally in the 6th and 7th inning. Then, in the 8th, Jose Pirela knocked in 1. That was our insurance, because the Red Sox scored 3 more after that. The final, 13-8.
The win goes to Tanaka, who's 11-6 on the season. Not too bad for a guy with an elbow that's about the snap. But more importantly, not bad for the Yankees. This is a team that appears to be shaking off the funk, and ready to march toward first place again. I feel good at this moment.
Do you?
Final: Yankees 13 - Red Sox 8
