AROD FIGHT DRAMA!
Oh yeah... it's a circus! Apparently Alex Rodriguez got a two for one deal when he hired attorney Joe Tacopina. Not only is Tacopina a lawyer, the college hockey player still has no problem taking a seat in the penalty box, after going a round for his client.
Apparently, Tacopina was frustrated that the Anthony Bosch testimony had taken up three days of the hearing. Originally, there was only a week scheduled for the hearing. Tacopina's frustration is understandable. If he is not given a fair chance to cross examine Bosch, and present his case, how can his client be represented fairly? Anyway, he asked one of the MLB attorney's how long Bosch would be on the stand. At which point Bosch's lawyer, Julio Ayala, replied that it may go into the next day. The rest is so comical that I couldn't possibly make it up any better. Here is the quote from an article in The New York Daily News (HERE):
"'Well, I guess we have all of October, and by then Mr. Bosch will be in jail," Tacopina replied, referring to the fact that Bosch and his now-defunct clinic are being investigated by Florida state authorities and federal law-enforcement officials from Southern District of Florida.
"If he is, he is not going alone," Ayala fired back, implying that if Bosch goes to prison, he is taking Rodriguez with him."
More words were exchanged, including something about Ayala's wife, and the two went toe-to-toe. The other attorney's had to physically restrain them.
That's right, ladies and gentlemen. These two professionals behaved like boys in a school yard. Sorry to break it to you, Tacopina, but the courtroom does not make for a good location to hold your version of Fight Club. And to hurl an insult at a mans wife? Frankly, I wouldn't have blamed Ayala if he had knocked Tacopina one. I don't usually condone violence, but you do not insult a mans wife because you are having a bad day. Like much else surrounding this case, his behavior was extremely childish. Reports say that he did apologize to Ayala the following day.
ARod is expected to attend the arbitration hearing on Wednesday morning. The hearings were temporarily suspended last week, because arbitrator Fredric Horowitz had a previous engagement. Stay tuned to BYB, as we keep you informed with all the hullabaloo coming out of this case.
