YOUKILIS CALLS FAKE JOBA FEUD "OVERBLOWN"

Bleeding Yankee Blue got it right again.

Sure, Joba Chamberlain and Kevin Youkilis had their differences, but it's over. The media had taken a tale of two professional baseball players who, yes, were once at odds and magnified it into an overblown soap opera.  Yes, in fact, the whole thing is ridiculous.

Pitchers and catchers happened this week in Tampa and the first thing the media is the concerned about is whether or not Joba Chamberlain and Kevin Youkilis will come to blows.  The Newsday printed an article titled Kevin Youkilis touches base, returns Joba Chamberlain's text message, read HERE earlier in the week.  That's how it starts... and not to just blame Newsday, all the outlets had it.

Look, we all know Joba and Kevin are not exactly peaches and cream, but they are now teammates.  These are two grown men who are well aware of their responsibilities and whatever differences they do have, they are to go about their business on the field and get ready for the 2013 season. Both guys know that.  They will carry themselves in professional conduct as that is what the Yankees front office personnel would want them to as well as us fans.
This is not Ricky Vaughn and Roger Dorn from the movie Major League. The media needs to know that, us fans aren't stupid.  The team execs, Joe Girardi, nor the Captain Derek Jeter care if they aren't the best of friends. They DO care that they co-exist for the one common goal, and that's winning ballgames and championships. Let's go back to a previous BYB article, THERE IS NO YOUKILIS VS. JOBA BEEF. We nailed it.

Again, it's media sensationalism, you guys know this and with Youk showing up to Spring Training early today, he put it to rest saying the whole thing was overblown by the media, read HERE. Youk said:
“You guys have written a lot about it, and I think it’s just something you guys keep going on and on about... But we’re here at spring training as a team and ready to play. I hope the only drama this year we create is walk-off home runs and hits.”
Finally,  the story has died and BYB knew it all along. We don't care about the clicks here, we want to get you the real story.  The whole thing was silly and obvious to us... and you too.

Taking a simple riff that we all know deep down won't matter once the season begins is silly. Look, it isn't Yankees Spring Training without a little drama printed in the sports section of every Newspaper, we know that, but this just a resort to make what was a quiet offseason for the team and add some comedy to it.  I don't expect to hear anytime soon that Joba and Kevin are going on fishing trips together, that's fair to assume. I do know that anytime we hear Joba threw at Youkilis, Kevin will be wearing a glove fielding 3rd base for the New York Yankees... and that works nicely for me.  How about you?

Oh and by the way, we'll have more analysis on the "always being a Red Sock" comment... look for it soon.

  1. We all know how the NY media and the Boston media are. They will question Youk of Joba has a bad outting and vice versa. They will turn nothing into something and it will cause friction.
