YANKEES OPTION CORY WADE

(pictured:  Cory Wade)

Today the Yankees optioned RHP Cory Wade to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make room for newly aquired RH-reliever Chad Qualls.  Qualls will be in uniform #40 tonight for the Yanks in Tampa.  As we reported yesterday, Qualls was aquired from the Phillies for cash or a player to be named later.  The 33-year-old was 1-1 with a 4.68 ERA for Philadelphia this year before being designated for assignment last week.

Cory Wade did a great job for the Yankees up until about 2 weeks ago.  He currently has a 5.79 ERA and had given up at least one earned run in five of his final six appearances.  If Wade can work out some of his issues down in Scranton he may be a big asset come late season/post season.  BYB will follow Wade down in Scranton and periodically report how he is doing.
