A GREAT PODCAST WITH BASEBALL & BROADWAY!

We've done plenty of podcast's over the years here at Bleeding Yankee Blue.  We used to do an amazing one out of Chicago with our pal Paul Chivari.  You can read that here:

A BASEBALL PODCAST YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT!

Paul and I became good friends and inside that link above is a Bleeding Yankee Blue jingle he made for us as well as one of the shows we did together. Love that!

These days Suzie Pinstripe appears regularly on the Bleed Blue Show and that's always fun. Those guys over there are terrific.

And now I have to say, I was blown away by a new podcast that is out there. And it's growing by the minute.  And full disclosure... my man Al is one of the founders and I love this dude... so you need to as well.

The Break the Bat podcast, created by the Katzmann brothers Chris, Scotty and Al Malafronte is refreshing, fun, loose and smart.  Suzie appeared last week and I have to tell you, as a listener, I very much enjoyed it.  Here is that episode. Give it a listen:

BREAK A BAT! - FEATURING SUZIE PINSTRIPE

But there's more to it which I find unique. In the end of that episode they talk alittle Broadway.  That's right.... Broadway shows. The actors, the actresses, favorite shows... it's fun!  Each week they change it up.  You never really know how it's gonna shake down each time, but again... each time they offer their unique take on the Yankees and baseball... and then deliver their Broadway take as well.

Look, I'm being straight here... I very much endorse it.  I'm actually gonna be on it soon.  I really love their style, it's a lot of fun.  I hope you all check it out. Here is their episode list. They are on Apple Music! Subscribe today.

Well done, gentlemen! More please!!!

YES, BYB WRITERS CAN NOW DO RADIO APPEARANCES. CALL US...

I get emails on occasion asking if I will come on to talk on a radio show or A podcast.  I did it once and a while and loved doing it. In fact, I made some real friends being a regular on a Sports Radio Chicago show, and then I became buds with Paul Chivari out there in Chicago.  In fact, you can read his piece called TALKING CHISOX VS. YANKEES WITH A CHICAGO GUY.   Chivari did a guest piece for us there, and our podcast appearance is there as well. It's great.  Here's another one with Dynasty Sports Empire below...

Love those guys too.

The point is, I love to do it, but sometimes life gets in the way and it's difficult for me to get out there! But I still get requests and instead of turning radio and podcasts down, I am letting the radio community know, that if you want one of us at Bleeding Yankee Blue to join you, myself, Suzie Pinstripe, Jeana Bellezza and Mike O'Hara will make ourselves available to talk with all of you.  All you need to do in return is plug Bleeding Yankee Blue, and treat us with respect as we would to you.

The second thing you need to know is we WILL hopefully and eventually be setting up our BYB Podcast at some point soon as well.  Again, it's about time, and I barely have any... but if we can figure it out, we will get it done... somehow... someway.  I know the BYB community would like it, because we've been asked about it a lot.

Look, Bleeding Yankee Blue started because I was pissed about the Yankees one night and made a version that was then shared with a few friends.  That was in September 2010. Never in a million years did I think this product would last, or would be read by nearly 6 million people since it's birth.  But it's happening, and it's wild and I love every minute of it.  And now, with podcasters asking if we'd appear, I am happy to say that we will.  Me, Jeana, Suzie and Mike will do it.  And over time, once some of our newer writers become ready... they will do it too.

It's about progress.  But it's about respect... and I appreciate so many radio folks reaching out.  So, as a way to reciprocate.... we will start to make ourselves available.

Thanks for the confidence in us.  Thanks for believing in our product.  We are now ready for that next step.

Just reach out to me on Twitter or Facebook and we'll set something up.

A BASEBALL PODCAST YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT!

It's a new year, and with it comes new beginnings.

This is just a quick note about my buddy Paul Chivari, a Chicago guy who shares the same love of baseball like me.  You remember Paul right? He's the guy who came up with the BYB jingle that is on the home page of our site.  Check it out below:

Anyway, Paul is the host of a new baseball podcast called Baseball Weekend Journal!  The plan is to get it up an running on SoundCloud right now, but no doubt, through the popularity of the show, which is bound to happen, it will grow. Gotta love progress!

Take some time out of your day today and check out Paul's first episode of Baseball Weekend Journal, and just so you know, I was totally flattered, I was his first guest on his first show! It was awesome.  You can listen to that episode below. Please, take a few minutes and check it out, not just for me, but to give support to a BYB family member in Paul Chivari. He's a great dude:

Give the guy a shout out and congratulations! He's on Twitter at @PaulChivari. A good guy, with a bright future in broadcasting!

TALKING CHISOX VS. YANKEES WITH A CHICAGO GUY

I thought this was cool and so we posted it for your enjoyment. This is my friend Paul Chivari from Chicago.  He's the guy that came up with this terrific BYB jingle:

We wrote about it in  THE BYB JINGLE YOU CAN'T GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD. Anyway, he wanted to share a preview for the Yankees - White Sox Weekend.  I hope you enjoy it.  Be nice, he's a good dude.  -Casey

The last time the New York Yankees visited Chicago it was for back-to-back series against the Cubs and the White Sox in May of last year.  That was when I reached out to Robert Casey to have him appear on my radio show and gain the New York perspective on what that road trip would mean for the Yankees. At that time I had no idea that I was in store for one of my most treasured friendships that I’ve gained in the world of sports. After all of our interactions and contributions to each others projects it feels like more time than just fourteen months have passed.

Now that the Yankees are back in Chicago I felt that it would only be right if I gave my Chicago perspective on what the forthcoming White Sox-Yankees series means to me.  So I present to you, BYB nation….

The White Sox are finally playing their best offensive baseball all season. In their last eight games they outscored their opponents 56-17 while winning seven of those contests. All of those games were on the road, but they were against weaker American League squads in Cleveland and Boston. Ace right hander Jeff Samardzija, who is in a contract year, started the road trip as a big trade piece for a team towards the bottom of the league standings. Now, with the trade deadline falling just hours before this series kicks off Samardzija is in a position where he may stay with the team for the remainder of the season. Only 3.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot, the White Sox front office feels that they are contenders and choose to remain buyers rather than the sellers many expected them to be at the deadline. With both teams looking to add help to their respective rosters in the hopes of a run to a title, anything can happen to either the White Sox or the Yankees at the deadline. Both teams may stand pat, though both have been linked to big names.

Trade rumors?

The Yankees did acquire outfielder Dustin Ackley but they desperately need some starting pitching. This was a known fact before right hander Michael Pineda was scratched from his Thursday start in Texas then placed on the 15-day DL. Despite this setback to the rotation, the Yanks were linked to San Diego Padres closer Craig Kimbrel.

The school of thought is that by adding Kimbrel the Yankees will have a formidable back of the bullpen with Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances.  That never happened. The biggest names of the starters that were connected to the Yankees were David Price and Cole Hamels.  They're both gone now.  James Shields is still available, but with three years remaining on his deal, the cost may be too rich for even the Yankees.  Who knows….maybe Jeff Samardzija could switch locker rooms this weekend.

The White Sox trade hopes aren’t as bright. With the Detroit Tigers in demolition mode the only viable option for the White Sox would have been Yoenis Cespedes, but he's a Met apparently.  The Sox did land Justin Sellers for infield depth, but probably won’t be the boost their offense could use.

What to expect

The White Sox recent success shouldn’t scare anybody right now. A home stand against the Yankees and Rays followed by a three game series in Kansas City will more than likely bring them back to where they were a week ago - at the bottom portion of the American League standings. This weekend will be a big series and they may have run out of momentum after Thursday’s loss at Boston. Their 24-22 home record needs to improve and their starting pitching has been good all year, but if the Yankees are anything like the team that posted an average of nearly nine runs a game in Texas this week the White Sox pitching staff could be in for some long games. The Yankees will face two left handers in Rodon and Danks and are 18-11 against lefties this season.

While the White Sox may be hot, they have yet to prove themselves against any major contenders at US Cellular Field. Melky Cabrera has been on fire and Jose Abreu brings a ten game hitting streak into Friday’s contest. Rookie lefty starter Carlos Rodon may struggle against the veteran Yankee sluggers unless his slider is dominant. John Danks has been better recently but is 2-3 lifetime against the Yankees and has had trouble against Mark Teixeira and Jacoby Ellsbury.

Jeff Samardzija is the only real x-factor the White Sox have to combat the Yankee power bats only allowing five home runs in nine starts this season at home.

Prediction: Yankees take two out of three

THE BYB JINGLE YOU CAN'T GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD

I wanted to share this with you.  My buddy Paul Chivari of the Fahey & Chivari show not only has an incredible radio voice, but he's a musician as well. In fact, he was a member of the Chicago band,  Elephant Gun at one point.  Needless to say, the dude's talented.

Over the past year, I've become friendly with Paul and Ryan Fahey.  They are great people and I first introduced them to all of you when I wrote MY CHICAGO FRIENDS ARE COOL.

Since then, alot has happened. Paul has since moved on from his radio show with Fahey, and Bleeding Yankee Blue has gained popularity.  So what I'm about to share with you will stick in your head for the rest of the day... and you can thank Paul for that!

Paul wrote Bleeding Yankee Blue a jingle. It's a jingle that I will eventually attach to the home page of BYB and you'll be able to click it any time you want.  Here it is:

Awesome, right? I'm totally flattered by it and I greatly appreciate it.

Paul... thank you.  You're a great guy and I know you're in a great baseball town like Chicago, but you should consider being a Yankee fan... we're better. I kid... I kid. I mean we are, but you know.

Thanks again old friend! I owe you one.
