Anthony Volpe is clearly almost ready for primetime. Now I don't want to get too ahead of myself, but many fans are already. Many want to see Volpe man shortstop by opening day. Here's the thing; Spring training is the gauge to see what each team has and what teams need to improve on, keep an eye on or just dump. Some will make it, some will not.
But right now, with news of IKF potentially on his way out in some sort of trade form, and Oswald Peraza getting hit by a pitch on the wrist today, Volpe could be the guy standing at shortstop by the end of the spring. (Peraza is fine, but it was a scare.)
Today, Volpe was electric only because of his leadoff home run. The New York Post writes:
"Anthony Volpe started his latest audition to make the Yankees’ roster with a bang...Volpe worked a 2-2 count before Keller threw him a slider on the outside edge that he didn’t miss, crushing it 394 feet to left field.
It was Volpe’s first home run of the spring as he improved to batting 3-for-9 in four games."

The Yankees need all around hitting, not just Bronx bomber stuff,a balanced lineup that can win in different ways.Volpe could be such a player.
