THE YANKEES WILL BENEFIT FROM A SHORTENED SEASON

If there is one bright side to a shorter season for the Yankees, it is that there is less time for our players to end up getting injured, and there was more time for the injured to recover. Read more of that in JULY START COULD HAVE THE YANKEES AT FULL CAPACITY.

The Yankees keep saying the delayed season is a "blessing in disguise" for Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Hicks, and James Paxton who weren't even going to be ready for the original Opening Day.

We still don't know what this shortened season is going to end up looking like since discussions are still ongoing, but these following players will benefit from an 81 game or fewer schedule.

Aaron Judge and his fractured top right rib were not expected to come back until this summer according to Brian Cashman. Over the past two years, Judge has been limited to 214 games due to a fractured wrist and oblique injury. Now with time to heal, hopefully, the Yankees will manage Judge's workload so he will not miss time or be injured for the third straight season.

Giancarlo Stanton participated in only 18 regular-season games last year due to his left bicep injury and a strained knee. In spring training, Stanton suffered a calf strain and was not set to play in Opening Day. Since there are a lot of options for left fielders, Boone can use Stanton solely as a DH to avoid any more injuries.

For Clint Frazier, the proposed 4 extra spots to make a 30 man roster would benefit him to be added as a bench option to DH.

James Paxton is a free agent after the 2020 season... November, regardless if the season is played or not. Paxton has been on the IL eight times since 2014 and had back surgery in February. If he can have a solid three months of pitching without injuries, he would set himself up for a nice payday at the end of this year.

With only a month to go until July, it will be interesting to see how these teams will adapt to a shorter season ahead. We just want to watch some baseball!
