I love this move.
The New York Post reported very late last night... or early in the morning, that the Yankees have agreed to bring Aroldis Chapman back for a 1 year extension. For me personally who is such a fan, that's huge.
For the Break A Bat Podcast, that just means 3 more years of hilarious photoshopped pictures of Chapman and his interpreter. Congrats Al and company over there!
The New York Post writes:
"Aroldis Chapman will be back with the Yankees in 2020.
The closer had until midnight on Sunday to opt out of the final two years of his deal, which would have paid him $30 million. Instead, Chapman and the team extended the contract by one year for an added $18 million, a source confirmed, so he essentially has a new three-year contract worth $48 million.
Chapman confirmed the news that he was staying with the Yankees on Twitter, writing, 'New York, I told you I wasn’t going anywhere.'’’
Loving it, folks. Now let's go get Gerrit Cole or Stephen Strasburg. We can afford it Cashman.
