THE BRONX IS BURNING!

And NO I am not referring to Jonathan Mahler's best-selling book, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Bronx Is Burning.

There is no warfare here between players and management. The only warfare is on the field between the Yankees and any team that visits and steps on our turf. In just two short weeks we have two different looks at our guys and right now I can't get enough of this team!

The boys are on a tear right now and after all of the action this holiday weekend I am just pumped up!

It looks like things are coming together. The last turn through the starting rotation looked good, everyone is doing what is expected of them but I was even more impressed with pitching this weekend. You have to hand it to CC Sabathia, he may no longer be the "ace" of the staff but this weekend he looked like that top of the rotation guy. He has figured out what works for him and his transformation is impressive. Sabathia pitched one hell of a game until he lost his shutout in the eighth inning on his 97th and final pitch, when Jedd Gyorko hit an opposite-field home run and tipped his cap as he retreated to the dugout to a standing ovation. I couldn't help but pump my fist like a crazy woman. CC Monster was on fire Saturday and no personal battles with alcoholism, injury, or age are holding him back. What an exciting game!

April 16th's game had some exciting highlights too. It was good to see Michael Pineda come out and have another successful start. He was so close to a perfect game in his previous start until Evan Longoria ruined that in the 7th inning. Whatever, at least he carried that momentum into his start last night pitching 7 innings, giving up 6 hits, 2 earned runs and 6 strikeouts. This is the first time Pineda has pitched at least seven innings in back-to-back games since June 28 and July 4, 2015. It's a good sign in a very young season and if he can keep pitching deep into games the pitching rotation won't be as weak as everyone thinks.

And I can't forget one of my favorite moments. After a red-hot spring, Greg Bird has stumbled so far in the season. The foul ball off of his ankle certainly hasn't helped his slow start but those struggles came to an end last night after hitting a two-run home run off of Adam Wainwright in the second inning and then hitting a double in the fourth inning. The Bird man has finally found his wings and hit the first of many home runs to come this season. Count on it!

And last night, Jordan Montgomery, 6 innings pitched, allowed 7 hits but only 3 runs! Aaron Judge, 2-4 with 3 RBIs. Matt Holliday, a home run and 3 RBIs! Are you kidding me?

The Yankees are hot right now, there is no other way to say it. Two sweeps in a row? Another win against the Chisox! I will take it!

Everything seems to be clicking and our guys look like they are dialed in. I'm loving the momentum and I can't wait to see who rises to the occasion next!

Beware visiting teams.....the Bronx is burning and we are taking no prisoners!
