Looks like Tim Lincecum is still on the Yankees radar.
While the likelihood may not be at 100%... it's definitely over 85. There are several reports that have indicated that the Yankees are still looking for an extra piece of the rotation, especially if that option is cheap.
The San Diego Tribune is reporting that the Yankees are among 20 teams that are very interested in Lincecum and requested, "...medical information.
Lincecum underwent hip surgery Sept. 3 at the Steadman Clinic in Vail,
Colo. His showcase initially was scheduled for mid-January, but has
since been pushed back a couple times, presumably to ensure the
31-year-old will be at full strength."
The Inquisitr reports something very similar to what we here at BYB have stated in SOURCE: "LINCECUM COULD BE THE FINAL PIECE"and LINCECUM IS IN THE YANKEES PLANS:
"If he looks like his old self, the
Yankees may wish to pass on Lincecum and go with a cheaper option. If he
looks average, the Yankees could sign him cheap or bring him in for a
minor-league deal. While Lincecum wants a starting job on an MLB team,
he really may have to settle for a deal in the minors to start the
season."
Would you sign the guy, have him start in the minors and bring him up if he proves he can be a rotation guy? Look, if you're asking me, I always loved "the Freak" and whether he's back to his old form or close to it... I go for it, especially if it's a minor league deal at the start.
Whatever the case, the story is very interesting and I wanted to make sure you saw it.
Enjoy your Saturday. I will be running around doing indoor baseball training, working around the house, and preparing for Spring... the yard is a mess!
