OUT OF TIME!
Sure, blame CC Sabathia all you want. The fact of the matter is you can't just blame him. CC didn't lose it for us tonight, we all did... we ran out of time.
Sure, CC gave up 4 runs in 5.1 innings, and Brendan Ryan committed an error, but the reality is... where were the Yankees? We have a fully capable line up able to score more than 4 runs in a game. If we do, be it 5 or 6, we win or tie and go to extra innings. The Yankees are a team, we need to do our job to win. Tonight, we came up short... we ran out of time.
The Yankees scored 4 and the Brewers scored 5. Alfredo Aceves got the loss. The Yankee scoring went like this:
In the third, Brett Gardner tripled and Jacoby Ellsbury scored. Then Carlos Beltran knocked in Gardy on his single. In the 6th, Mark Teixeira homered. In the seventh, Alfonso Soriano knocked in Kelly Johnson. The Brewers were able pretty much to go run for run with us, and in the bottom of the 7th, they knocked in that extra run to pull ahead. The Yankees were never able to come back. Sadly, that's the game. Sometimes the other team just has alittle extra. That was the Brewers tonight.
But what about the Yanks and CC? There's concern, right? 5.1 innings? Really? What are we gonna do about this guy? I say let the guy work it out. Look, we have some decent pitching and we have a solid bullpen. I'm not saying we give the guy a pass. What I'm saying is, let him work it out. Trust me, if it's June and the guy's still having issues, then we really need to re-evaluate CC and his talent and longevity with this club. For now... I say let the big guy work it out. He can only get better.
Final: Brewers 5 - Yankees 4
