"As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect. I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions. This situation has taken a toll on me and my entire family, and it is has been a distraction to my teammates and the Brewers organization. I am very grateful for the support I have received from players, ownership and the fans in Milwaukee and around the country. Finally, I wish to apologize to anyone I may have disappointed — all of the baseball fans especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates. I am glad to have this matter behind me once and for all, and I cannot wait to get back to the game I love."
This are some points I took from Ryan Braun's original statement when was first caught and appealed:
- “I truly believe in my heart and I would bet my life that this substance never entered my body at any point.”
- “The truth is always relevant and at the end of the day, the truth prevailed.”
- “I’m a victim of a process that completely broke down and failed.”
- “You’re part of a process where you’re 100 percent guilty until proven innocent.”
Wow. Bod statement. I don't even think I could pull that line off if I'm lying to everyone and knew I was! But Braun said today that he's glad "to have this matter behind me once and for all, and I cannot wait to get back to the game I love." Well, he shouldn't be able to come back...
this isn't rehab... this is a violation of the rules... AND he lied. Again... we need to SHAME THESE PLAYERS, not give them suspensions they can handle like candy.
Now sure, there will be a process now, maybe an appeal and maybe even a deal will be cut... and who knows what hard evidence MLB has, but they have to have something, that is clear. If they didn't, Braun would have been denying it this time around again. He didn't. He admitted it today.
Now there are reports about Alex Rodriguez "being next." OK. I'm not going there until it happens. That's the way it should be. I'm not going to be part of the feeding frenzy until the next hammer drops. But remember 1 thing... I told you so. I told you that MLB was serious. I told you that they wanted to make an example to expose the "bad guys." Now they are... and there will be more.
It's a sad day in baseball.... it really is.
