Please say that 5 times fast... you can't, or can you?
Big news out of Yankeeland. It's big for Chien-Ming Wang and it's big to the fans like me who wanted to see him contribute in the Bronx this season. Wang has opted out of his minor league contract with the Yankees and has signed a deal with the Blue Jays. This release was requested by Wang and was not done by the Yankees without Wang's request, read HERE.
As CBSSports.com says Wang: "...went 4-4 with a 2.33 ERA and 58 percent ground-ball rate in 58 innings across eight Triple-A starts before opting out. The Yankees reportedly wanted him to focus on his offspeed pitches since his trademark sinker now sits more 88-90 mph rather than 93-95.
With the emergence of Vidal Nuno and Michael Pineda's encouraging rehab from shoulder surgery, Wang had gotten push toward the bottom of the Yankees pitching depth chart... The Blue Jays have been hit hard by injuries this year, and Wang will be their 12th starting pitcher this year when he gets the call next week."
Well, good for Wang. He did what he had to do to get back... the best of luck.
