The Yankees lost... again. Game 2. It's over. We're 0-2. What's the good news? It's April 3rd and the Toronto Blue Jays are also 0-2. And what does any of this mean? Nothing. Except that the Yankees have lost their first series of the season to a division rival, and I hate that and you should too.
2 things happened tonight that I liked. I love that Travis Hafner hit a home run. Look, this is Pronk's only job in New York... crank out homers. He has to do it and he did tonight. That's good.
Secondly, Vernon Wells cranked out a 3 run home run. Vernon Wells was very excited to come to New York and this all plays into each other so, if confidence builds because of that, I'm happy. Lightening in a bottle? Yeah... let's hope so.
What I didn't like. Hiroki Kuroda taking a liner off his right hand. Not good. Let's hope we don't lose the guy for an extended period of time. That would suck. His line: 1.1 IP, 4 hits, 2 runs. Then came Cody Eppley giving up 4 runs in 1.1 IP. Whoa. It always sucks when there's a hole we need to come back from. I hate having a team needing to catch up 7 runs in a game. It's never easy, especially when everyone is swinging for the fences.
Adam Warren pitched the bulk of tonight and only gave up 1 run in 5 innings. I was impressed with that. Maybe the Yanks had a smart idea when they gave up on David Aardsma for Warren. Warren also struck out 4.
Final tonight: Red Sox 7 - Yankees 4.
It's only Game 2, don't get loopy yet.
