MATT DIAZ RELEASED

It didn't work out, but give Matt Diaz credit though... he was "all in" with the Yankees, excited to be with us and willing to do whatever the team needed.   But it's being reported everywhere at this point that Diaz has been released. Andy McCullough of the Star Ledger has it best, read HERE, writing:

"Buried on the Yankees depth chart by recent acquisitions, struggling through the early slate of Grapefruit League games, outfielder Matt Diaz received his release this morning.

Diaz, a 35-year-old right-handed hitter, was batting just .200 this spring. He figured to lose playing time to new additions like Ben Francisco and Brennan Boesch. Diaz posted a .613 OPS with Atlanta last season."

Good luck to Diaz. It's right about now that things start to get settled in Yankeeland as we embark on the 2013 season. Diaz just didn't make the cut... it's not personal, it's baseball.
