Hey...that's he plan at least. According to Newsday's Eric Boland, read HERE.When Brian Cashman spoke about Andy Pettitte's situation by phone, he revealed "I'd probably say mid-September now...It depends who you talk to..." Don't forget, originally the date for return was September 1st.
I said at Bleeding Yankee Blue that at Pettitte's age, which is my age, you can't really be sure when your body will bounce back. I was right and you guys probably realized the impact of Pettitte's injury too. I wrote in YANKEE CHRONICLES: PETTITTE, BANUELOS, CAMPOS & BILL MASSE: "Sept. 1 has been talked about being Pettitte’s return
date... Let's be honest ladies and gentlemen, don’t look at Sept. 1st
as the drop dead time. Expect it to be
more like Sept. 10, that’s if everything goes well. I love Andy but he’s 40, everything takes
longer."
Also, according to George King III at the New York Post, it can also be confirmed officially that the setback that Pettitte had cost him 7-10 days. Here's a quote from Brian Cashman on that: “We have to let the healing process take its course... He had that setback which cost him a week to 10 days, but he is in the middle of the healing process.’’ Read HERE.
Nothing new, nothing earth shattering, right? I mean, I just told you that July 26th. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know how the Yankees reveal progress of injury to the press, they've always done it this way.
So yeah, while we all want Andy back... he needs to go slow and hopefully we will see him in the playoffs... Hopefully.
