According the Marc Carig of the Star Ledger, the Yankees have claimed infielder Matt Antonelli off waivers from the Orioles. You can read Carig HERE. Why? Alittle stability perhaps, alittle flexibility. I'm not going to sit here and tell you I understand this. After all, we already have Jayson Nix, Eduardo Nunez and Eric Chavez...all infielders.
As far as Antonelli goes, he was only batting .204 in Norfolk when he was designated for assignment just a few days ago. You can read about that HERE. Before that he played for the San Diego Padres. He made it to their big club in 2008 but in 21 games only batted .193.
That's all I got and if I get more, you'll get more. Welcome Matt Antonelli.
