"We’re in competition, I like that. Keeps my focus straight, and [me] concentrating better."
--Freddy Garcia
People can tell me that there is no reason to have a competition for spots in the Yankees rotation. Well, someone forgot to tell Freddy Garcia because despite him practially being written off by the Yankees and the New York Sports Media, he's giving it his all and fighting for his life... and I love it.
Garcia pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up 1 hit, 4 strikeouts and 1 walk. It's his first time back since getting smacked in the hand on March 14th. Other nice highlights from today include Raul Ibanez hitting a 2 run homer in the 7th inning. Ibanez desperately needed that hit and hopefully he can work out of his horrendous Spring slump. The Yankees eventually went on the win the game against the Tigers in 10 innings by the score of 4-2 after Dewayne Wise hit a 2 run double in the 10th. One step closer to Opening day... everything's clicking.
