Melvin Mora: Would you sign Melvin Mora if you couldn’t lock in Eric Chavez? Melvin Mora was reportedly retiring, but according to Jon Morosi from Fox Sports, that’s not the case… he wants to play. Read HERE. Melvin Mora is looking for a minor league signing. Sounds like a no brainer right? This guy could prove to be valuable. The Baltimore Sun’s Dan Connolly says that an East Coast team is where Mora would prefer to play. Read HERE. Hey look, the guys 39 years old and I am not so sure the Yankees should be looking at this guy as an extra bat when they just cut Jorge Posada loose, but in the grand scheme of things, the idea of signing Mora to a minor league deal and seeing what he’s got is really not a stupid idea…it’s just an idea, and that’s it.
Johnny Damon: The Internet is pushing this idea of Johnny Damon coming to the Yankees as their DH probably more than the Yankees and Damon are. Read HERE. No doubt about it though, Damon needs a job. The question is, will he come back to the Yankees to help out as a DH or will the Yankees go another route. Expect a quote within the next 24 to 48 hours from Yankee brass suggesting that them reaching out to Damon was just a “courtesy.” Bottom line, I’d like him there, but who knows if he’d go. Let's also not forget that a report came out today suggesting the Yankees don't have money left for a DH... only about $2 million. Read about that HERE. Stay tuned.
Gio Gonzalez: Just kick me while I’m down. You know I love Gio Gonzalez, and now it’s being reported that the Nationals have agreed on a 5 year extension with Gio. Read it HERE. There is nothing more to the story other than I guess we won’t be seeing much of Gio anymore, other than highlights on Sportscenter.
As more stuff happens, Bleeding Yankee Blue will hopefully have it for you. That would be nice right?
