WHY 2012 COULD BE HUGHES' YEAR


Just some news out of Yankeeland...according to Phil Hughes' agent, the Yankees and Hughes have agreed to a 2012 deal worth $3.2MM plus performance bonuses. 

Makes you think with this new contract that Hughes might have first crack at that #5 spot in the Yankees starting rotation.  Why pay him more and give him incentives if you are just going to throw him in the bullpen?  Just something to think about...
