WHY CURTIS GRANDERSON CONTINUES TO IMPRESS

Just when you thought Curtis Granderson couldn’t be any cooler, he does something else to impress. Now comes word from Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News that Grandy and Robinson Cano will be leading a group of Major League ballplayers to Taiwan to play against the Chinese Taipei National team in the 2011 Taiwan All-Star Series. I would actually love to see this, I hope they televise it. Read about the trip HERE.

As far as New York Players, Granderson and Cano will be there as well as the Mets Dillon Gee.

Mark continues: “Others scheduled to take part are Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera, Houston’s Mark Melancon (a former Yankee prospect), San Francisco’s Pablo Sandoval, Baltimore’s Jeremy Guthrie and Washington’s Michael Morse. Giants manager Bruce Bochy will manage the team.”

Look, many players would take time off, go home, hide all winter and then prepare for the spring of the following season early. Not Granderson. I've always liked this guy. Even last year he went to New Zealand to help kids learn baseball as part of a mission with Major League Baseball. Read about that in WHY GRANDY'S A CLASS ACT.

Just to refresh you memory, I wrote: "As part of the MLB International Ambassador program, Curtis Granderson traveled to there, in fact, he’s there right now, to help children learn the game of baseball, get fit and teach them one of the most important things in life. Quite simply, it doesn’t matter what you look like, what your size is, your weight or your strength… You can do anything you want to do. You have to believe in yourself. And if that means baseball... well, that's even better"

I really love the way Granderson carries himself and all he does to give back and to contribute to the game of baseball. Thank you Mark Feinsand for you story about the Major League baseball trip to Taiwan, that should be alot of fun.
