He later backed off a little from that statement, saying he didn't have any other comment, but for the most part, that makes you feel better right? Wrong.
Look, I have a very good feeling about CC coming back to the New York Yankees and I base it on family comfort more than money. His wife Amber has talked about the love for the city and for the children’s sake, their schooling and friends, their sports, etc. (Read HERE). You’d hate to disrupt a child's growth and development in life. I get it, I’m a parent. But money talks and I don’t want anyone to be surprised if one cold morning in December you open the newspaper and CC signed a monster deal with the Phillies to be with his best buddy Cliff Lee in Philadelphia.
Look don’t forget, Lee left the Rangers because he thought he could win in Philadelphia, and he liked Charlie Manuel and the comfort felt there. It's actually ironic that the Phillies with one of the best pitching staffs in baseball and the Yankees, with the best record in the American League couldn’t make it to the World Series. But that’s my point; Wouldn’t it be logical for CC Sabathia to check out what Philly has to offer? CC would only be an hour from Philadelphia, close enough to his family and reunited with his best friend Cliff Lee as they plot to take over baseball and try to win a World Championship with the Phillies. Now... whether or not Philly can afford CC Sabathia is another story, but if an ace falls in your lap, you find a way to pay for him and if any team can, Philadelphia can. Hey, it's just my opinion but it's not crazy, it makes sense.
3 days after the World Series ends, CC Sabathia has an opportunity to opt-out. In my opinion, he will, and then the craziness begins. Hopefully the Yankees get him back because if we don’t, we have bigger problems than last year and no doubt a few Bartolo Colon’s, Freddy Garcia’s and an Ivan Nova won’t make us World Champions in 2012, that I can promise.
Pitching, pitching, pitching is what the Yankees need, and we definitely need CC Sabathia, wrapped in a big red bow under the Yankees Christmas tree. That's all I want.
