BELLINGER TEES OFF!

What a night.

Look, the word revenge gets thrown around a lot in sports media—because, let’s be honest, it’s fun. Drama! Emotion! Former lovers turned rivals! But in Cody Bellinger’s case, this wasn’t personal. It was just baseball. And business. But hey, it looked like revenge, didn’t it?

Facing the Cubs for the first time since they traded him to the Yankees, Bellinger absolutely torched his former team Friday night. Three home runs. All two-run shots. Six RBI. Oh—and he almost made it four, but the Cubs' outfield robbed him at the wall, just to save a shred of dignity. That’s what we call a "friendly reminder" performance.

But here’s the twist: Bellinger isn’t bitter. In fact, he’s grateful. He’s spoken highly of his time with the Cubs, crediting them with helping him regain confidence and rediscover the swing that had seemingly vanished in L.A. He gets it—baseball is a business. No bridges burned. No grudges held. Just a guy with his head on straight, mashing baseballs like he never left 2019.

Still, you’ve got to love the narrative. A guy sees his ex for the first time and shows up looking like a Greek god in pinstripes. The Yankees romped 11-0. Carlos Rodón spun a gem. The crowd got a show. And New York pulled within a game and a half of first.

So yeah, maybe it wasn’t revenge… but it was definitely personal. And professionally impressive.
