HERE COMES SANDY ALCANTARA?

Concern and panic surround the Yankee rotation these days.  And now, just like the wacky offseason, rumors and predictions are swirling.  The latest comes from Newsweek who is predicting that the Yankees will make a trade for Sandy Alcantara, a guy that would be not only an easy fix, but a one day long term pitcher.  Newsweek writes:

"The Yankees could get the best of both worlds by trading for Sandy Alcántara from the Miami Marlins. Alcántara last pitched in 2023 when he posted a 4.14 ERA in 28 starts for the Marlins. A year prior, though, he made 32 starts and posted a 2.28 ERA en route to winning his first National League Cy Young Award. In his last three seasons, Alcántara has averaged 5.2 bWAR.

Trading for Alcántara makes a lot of sense for the Yankees. It solidifies another dominant arm at the top of the rotation alongside Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodón."

Notice that last part about being alongside Cole. That's right, the article was written before Cole's injury which makes Sandy even more important today. The trade, as predicted by Newsweek would be to give up Will Warren, Everson Pereira and Marcus Stroman.  But with Luis Gil out, the idea of keeping Stroman would become more important and so, the personnel in this trade would likely have to be upgraded in some capacity.

But there is no question this trade idea makes sense.  For the Marlins, they play for nothing these days, but would they part with a guy like Alcantara who is so valuable to any team though? We need to see.

It is interesting. We recently wrote about Sandy in BOLD PREDICTION SUGGESTS SANDY ALCANTARA WITH BE IN PINSTRIPES. Let's see what happens.
