THE GALLO FREE FALL

Joey Gallo was never good. Let's cut through it.  I never liked the guy as an athlete. I know, it's hard to be in the major leagues and stay there and I get all that, blah, blah, blah.

Joey Gallo is a big body. Teams were fascinated with him because if he gets a hold of one, it's gonna go.  Here's the problem; he puts way too much pressure on himself and when he came to New York, it was amplified tenfold. Then consider the fact that he rarely gets a hold of one.

The Yankees shipped him to the Dodgers, and he had a good week, and then, he went right back to sucking the life out of the team.  And so, I go back to... Joey Gallo was never good.

Now he's off the Dodgers, and he's found a new team. The Twins.

Inside the Pinstripes writes:

"Joey Gallo didn't work out with the Yankees.

He continued to struggle in a Dodgers uniform after he was dealt to Los Angeles at last year's deadline.

Now, after signing with the Twins in free agency, Gallo is expected to be used in a different way on defense.

Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic noted earlier this month that Minnesota will likely use Gallo at first base in 2023:

"Expect to see lots of Joey Gallo at first base, especially if Alex Kirilloff struggles to get back on track following season-ending wrist surgeries in 2021 and 2022. Gallo is a two-time Gold Glove-winning corner outfielder, and that’s where the Twins would prefer to deploy him, but he also played some first base early in his career with the Rangers and is considered very good there as well."

Am I missing something? So, they want to move Gallo to first, even though he's a pretty good outfielder defensively... and yet, they aren't addressing the hole in his bat? Weird. I guess the Twins, like the Dodgers and Yankees before them will soon find out that this guy offers nothing but a nice smile and a big body.

There is nothing useless about this guy these days. He should probably soon just give it up.
That is all.
