But now the question is...are they willing to give him a second chance? Aaron Boone already said that he expects German to be on the team next year, but Hal Steinbrenner may have other ideas about that, Michael Kay had the interview on his show HERE.
“Well, look, I have to absolutely feel comfortable that he deeply, deeply regrets and is sorry for what he what he did,” Steinbrenner said. “And I absolutely have to be comfortable with the fact that he’s turned his life around. Those two things are for sure. As far as where we go with him, I don’t know."
Sounds like Boone the Bonehead spoke out of turn there.
And he wasn't done: "there’s no doubt he needs to prove that he’s turned his life around and that he absolutely realizes how horrific that was," Steinbrenner said.
I don't know how German, (or anyone for that fact) can tangibly prove that he has turned his life around after a domestic violence incident. How do you measure that and how are they supposed to feel comfortable with the "new" German? We are talking about a guy that posted on social media that he retired back in July and then withdrew his announcement.
German has already lost a lot after his domestic violence incident from September 2019, but it sounds like he could lose a lot more. He may be ready to move on from this and play, Boone may be ready to let him pitch...but Hal isn't. He could have a lot more to lose now in the aftermath.
I'm not sure where the Yankees go from here and they may not be ready to give German a second chance. I guess we will have to wait and see if German ever pitches in pinstripes again.
Do you think this could be the end of German's career as a Yankee, or does he stay because we need him? Tell us what you think.
Interesting comment considered they traded for Chapman.
ReplyDeleteHe should get a chance , I mean Yankees are needing to cut money they should trade Hicks, and send Andunar to winter ball to play LF and look at moving Judge to CF , Frazier RF and Andujar LF.I would not give Sanchez anymore than what he got this year.
Tanaka will not get close to what he was making but bring him back at 15 million offer DJ 60 million for3 year's and option for 4th or 2 million buyout.
Tauchman can fill in at all positions and late LF replacement
So if you subtract Gardner, Paxton and Happ and Hicks trade then you are looking at 30-35 million a year to spend on a bullpen or starter.
We should be able to package some players for bullpen or starter.
First priority is sign DJ and if we don't then move hard on Didi for a 1-3 year deal.
Ford I like but probably should had traded him last off season but there is no room for him unless Voit willmkss the start of the season.
