GARDY IS BACK...

And to be honest, there is no reason why he shouldn't be.

Brett Gardner is a leader. Sure, he may have slowed down a bit, but this is a guy we need in that Yankee clubhouse.

A lot of speculation the last few days wondering if the Yankees were gonna bring him back. Should they? Why would they? I mean, true Yankee fans had this guy walking away into the sunset. They gave up on Gardy. Some called him an automatic out.  I don't get it.

Well, the Yankees didn't listen to those disgruntled fans.  They are bringing him back for 2019.

The New York Post writes:

"Brett Gardner is returning to a crowded Yankees outfield. After the club declined a $12.5 million option Wednesday on the 35-year-old Gardner, the sides agreed on a one-year contract for $7.5 million. Added to the $2 million buyout Gardner, the longest tenured Yankee, will play for $3 million less than had the Yankees picked up the option."

And it's true, the outfield will be quite crowded, but Gardy is a veteran, and the Yankees did the right thing.  Worst case... they move these players around in the outfield... and send Jacoby Ellbury to the curb.

We shall see.
