THE YANKS AIN'T HOT, BUT TORRES IS!

Love these types of stories and it's one I had to put on the pages of BYB this morning.  Gleyber Torres is hot as hell right now in Scranton Wilkes-Barre. Meanwhile, as you know, the Yankees, and Torres competition in the Bronx... well... are not.

The great Pete Caldera of the Bergen Record has this nugget:

"Torres is off to a hot start with the Yankees’ Class AAA affiliate, batting .370 (10-for-27) over his first seven games with a triple, homer and six RBI. Meanwhile, Yankees second baseman Tyler Wade is 3-for-31 (.097) to start the season and rookie third baseman Miguel Andujar is 3-for-28 (.107).Torres has been splitting time at both those positions at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

By Wednesday, Torres will have also cleared a service time hurdle related to the Yankees controlling him for an additional full season. But what would it take for Torres to get the call to the Bronx? “I think feeling that he’s in a good place, a fairly good rhythm of the season,’’ said manager Aaron Boone."

Translation... the dude's coming up. It's just a matter of when.  If the Yankees continue to be inconsistent this season, Boone and Cashman may be inclined to change things up... and maybe even bring up the kid and see what he's got.  This of course can help the Yankees breathe new life and give them a different energy because of new personnel.

We shall see... but I love dreamers and Torres is one.  Maybe something's coming down the pike.

Stay tuned...
