NAYSAYERS BEWARE: GARDY'S COMING FOR YA!

Source: NY Post

I am so tired of the "trade Brett Gardner" crap.  I would imagine so is he.  Although he'd never admit it.  So, I will do it for him.  Brett Gardner is worth every penny and then some.  He should never be considered anything more than a consistent leader, hard working outfielder and passionate player, whose energy and charisma are contagious.

“We have a great group of guys who hate to lose,’’ said Gardner, who has 10 RBIs in the last six games after not homering or driving in a run in the initial 18 games of the season. “We have a deep lineup capable of scoring a lot of runs," reported the New York Post. Sure hitting and fielding are explicit.  You see it clearly.  Energy is powerfully evident as well, with high fives, launching leaps into the air and celebratory Gatorade pours.  But behind the scenes, within the clubhouse, the locker room banter, and batting practice chatter, when no cameras are around, there's Gardy, motivating the team, carrying himself as the leader he was mentored to be.

"... it’s up to me and some veteran guys to help these young guys feel comfortable and help them be successful, and I think we can have a really good year. For us, it’s always the same thing every year: we’re trying to win a World Series,”  reported The Daily News prior to the start of season. It was Chase Headley who said that when Gardy hit the game winning home run in Friday's game, "He was drooling running around the bases when he got back to the dugout. He was pretty fired up," said the News.

The New York Daily News also stated that, "During the off season, Gardner’s name was involved in trade talks. GM Brian Cashman said teams took their best shot with offers, but nothing made sense for the Yankees. Gardner, 33, has two seasons left on his contract at $25 million total."

Nothing will ever make sense to me when it comes to Gardner doing anything but donning pinstripes and fighting the good fight as a New York Yankee, right where he belongs.  Is he going to hit a home run everyday? No.  Is he going to drive in the game winning run every night? No.  But he is going die trying and he is going to motivate every other member of the team to do the same.

Gritty Gardner is something special and there's no price tag that can ever be worth trading grit for the what the Yankees think are the next best thing.  So, naysayers beware, Gardy's coming for ya!  He's focused on winning and he's bringing the entire Yankee team with him.
