SECOND TOMMY JOHN SURGERY FOR HENSLEY
It's tragic, but it's obviously necessary. Ty Hensley will go under the knife again. LoHud writes the following:
"For the second year in a row, Yankees prospect Ty Hensley will miss the entire season because of Tommy John surgery...
Cashman confirmed Hensley will miss the entire season because of an elbow setback. We tend to think of Tommy John as an incredibly safe procedure from which pitchers always return within a year or so, but when it doesn't work out that way, the results can be devastating. History has not been kind of many pitchers who have undergone Tommy John surgery more than once."
Obviously we have written extensively here at BYB about arm strength and I want to make sure you read about that in these 2 articles below:
SAVING ARMS: A BYB FEATURE
STRENGTHENING ARMS: A BYB FEATURE
It should be noted that knowing everything we know about Tommy John and the determination of Ty Hensley, the idea of him not coming back after this doesn't even seem possible. Hensley is a hardworking, strong kid with the ability to cut through the doubters. He's done it alot in his young career. It's a tough pill to swallow right now, but we here at BYB will all pull for Ty and his family again, because I personally love and appreciate this kid and his family very much. They are wonderful folks.
When the time is right, I will get you the info you need from the Hensley family personally. But I refuse to do that at this time. The boy from Oklahoma needs personal time.
My best to you guys. Be Strong.
