Anyway, the Yankees have announced that they have signed outfielder Chris Denorfia to a minor league deal. According to YESNetwork.com...
"The Yankees have signed 35-year-old outfielder Chris Denorfia to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training, the team announced Wednesday.
Denorfia will wear No. 38 in camp, and has an opt-out clause should he not make the MLB roster after spring training in order to explore other opportunities rather than accept a Triple-A assignment.
'He's here trying to make the big leagues,' said Cashman."
Look, you gotta respect the struggle. You gotta respect the fact that he's trying to get back, but this is just a small contract with no concern to be had. If Denorfia does great things and there's a spot for him on the Yankees, great. If not, he can opt-out and take a walk and he knows he tried and go try somewhere else or hangs it up. It's a win-win.
As YESNetwork.com reports, "For his career, Denorfia owns a .272/.330/.392 slash line with 41 home runs and 196 RBI, and from 2010 to 2013 he posted four straight seasons batting .270 or better."
Good luck to Chris. Although, to be honest, when I read the news... this is how I actually felt.
