CHEERING ON CC & HIS NEW JOURNEY
Next week officially starts a new chapter for CC Sabathia as he continues his road back toward a long pitching season. Four months may not sound like enough time away but CC really sounds like he is in a good place, and he is ready for the challenge. He still has that competitive spirit and drive. As fans, how can we not root for him even more? He has a competitive itch, and I can't wait to see how he bounces back this season.
It wasn't easy for CC to make his decision last year. His struggles became common knowledge to the rest of the world. What would be a private family matter for the rest of us is suddenly headline news and intrusive for him. So to hear him so eager to come back this season has me waving my pom poms.
CC is ready to go, he says he hasn't felt this great mentally or physically in years, you can read that HERE. I am ready to see what a clear minded and rejuvenated CC will look like this year. He spent time on the disabled list again this past year, but right after he came back he had a little of that old CC spark back. The new knee brace made a difference and it was nice to see him pitch well in his last four starts with a 3-1 record and a 2.22 ERA. CC wasn't ready to give up then, and he certainly isn't now.
It sounds like our guy is in a much better place physically and mentally. How can you not cheer for the person who overcomes adversity and comes back to be successful? That success couldn't happen to a more deserving family. We have always been big supporters of the Sabathia's here. They are good people with hearts of gold and CC is a family man. He gave up a lot and has always made sacrifices for his family....and that goes for his wife and kids as well as his team.
It's been a rough few years for CC, we know that and so does he. He has a lot of question marks surrounding him right now both mentally and physically. Can he stay strong mentally? Will his knee hold up this season? I believe they will and he is going to surprise us all. It's a new CC and a new year.....we are behind you big guy!
