Yup, you guessed it, there's more to that sentence.
Brendan Ryan exercised his player option for 2016. And for me personally, I'm thrilled.
According to the New York Daily News, "Ryan exercised his $1 million player option for 2016, planning on another year in pinstripes as a backup infielder."
Now, there's more to this, and I didn't realize it and found it interesting.
"Although Ryan exercised his option — the Yankees had already declined
their $2 million option on him — it doesn’t guarantee that he will be
with the team when the season opens. The Yankees could trade or release
him at any time, though they would be obligated to pay him the full $1
million."
That's baseball. I'll tell you what though, it's my take that it would be wise to keep Ryan around. He's a good soldier. He does whatever the Yankees need. That's important and should not be overlooked.
