AROD & GARDY GO BIG IN WIN OVER TIGERS

The night for me, was about the game and the win.  If Alex Rodriguez cranked a hit to get 3000, I was definitely in, but it wasn't a priority for me.  I want the win first, the milestone second.  And we got both... we got a nice victory over the Tigers and Justin Verlander.

We also got to see history again.  ARod hit a home run for his 3000th hit.  The first thing I thought of was... "Remember when the Yankees were gonna make their argument that ARod wasn't marketable and therefore should not get his bonus money?" Well... think again.  Tonight was big.

I also have to laugh, because the haters have all disappeared.  Sure, once in a while you'll read a tweet about how Alex Rodriguez is 'ARoid', and that he's a 'loser' and he'll 'never compare to Derek Jeter' and all of that crap.  But it's diminished considerably, to the point where the haters are clearly happy that he's contributing and they no longer rip him.  Not sure why. Maybe they just got bored or they're embarrassed and realized that they don't truly have an argument.  Whatever the case... ARod appears to be alive and well in the Bronx... so... there you have it.

The Yankees won.  They beat the Tigers.  Adam Warren went 8 innings, gave up 7 hits and only 2 runs. Those would be the only 2 runs in the entire game for the Tigers. Pinder came in after that and only gave up a hit in 1 inning of work.

The Yankee run scoring went like this:

In the first, ARod homered, his 3000th.  Then in the second, Didi Gregorius homered as well.  In the 5th, Brett Gardner hit a 2 run homer.

In the 7th, on a wild pitch, Gardy then scored.  Mark Teixeira then singled in Headley.

In the Gardy then singled knocking in another run. The Yanks rolled tonight, but it was essentially because of Brett Gardner and Alex Rodriguez.  You gotta love it.

That's your ball game.  Congrats to Alex.

Final: Yankees 7 - Tigers 2
