CC Sabathia had a pretty damn, decent outing. Sure, he gave up 4 runs in the second inning, but the guy looked like a light bulb went off after that. He struck out 8. We walked none. He actually relaxed a bit.
And yes, I remember when he didn't get his ass over to back up Headley at third on the throw. That's Little League fundamental crap and I even tweeted it when it happened:
Cc needs to back up there. Come on dude

But let's not forget, once again, where is the Yankee offense to pick up CC when he needs help? You can't exactly pin the loss on CC entirely. Once again, I blame the offense as week. You have to. 3 runs this whole game for New York. You've seen our lineup. Why does this keep happening?Yeah, it's early in the season, but these are professional hitters. They need to hit. I laughed because I noticed a funny comment tonight after Mark Texieria hit a home run:
They were commenting on a piece O'Hara wrote this morning: HEY TEX, I'VE HAD ENOUGH. But let me ask Baseball1455A a question; Why would Mike look stupid? It's Mark Teixeira's JOB to hit home runs. If anything, Mike's right. If Tex doesn't do his job, he needs to take a walk. Bottom line.
The fact of the matter is, the runs don't come so easy for the New York Yankees. Even though ARod cranked one out tonight, he struck out twice. So did Beltran. The Yankees were 1-9 with Runners in Scoring Position. We left 7 on base tonight. These numbers pile up every game.
Were there some good things? Of course. I loved watching Alex Rodriguez crank one into the seats. It's been a long road of disappointment for him, and as I said in amNewYork on Monday, "...fans just want him to hit the ball and knock in runs... If he strikes out and starts to talk to the press and say silly things, that's not good. I hope he just shows up, does his job and goes home. That's the plan." All true.
Bottom line is we need to turn this around. We need to hit and we need to hit when we have runners on base. That's it! The end.
Tomorrow is the Red Sox. I expect better. We expect better. These next few games are a must win.
Final: Blue Jays 6 - Yankees 3
