Esmil Rogers started and Esmil Rogers was impressive. He threw 2 scoreless innings. In the end, the Yankees won 2-1.
Garrett Jones had 2 hits today, one of them was a double that knocked in the 1st run of the game. The other run came when Tyler Austin hit a solo shot in the eighth.
But here's the nugget of the day. It comes from the Associated Press:
"When Mariano Rivera stopped by the clubhouse recently, Rogers asked the all-time saves leader for pitching advice. 'I asked him what was his routine, how did he prepare mentally and physically... He told me how I need to pound the zone and keep my front shoulder in line.''Gotta love that. I'm happy for Rogers, Jones and Austin today.
Good Job Yanks!
