BRANDON McCARTHY & JASON HAMMEL COULD BE BRONX BOUND!

Anyone that follows the Yankees knows that Brandon McCarthy was phenomenal for us down the stretch.  With a broken down rotation, McCarthy came in and rose to the occasion.  You can't get down on him at all... there were many games the Yankee offense couldn't score for him.  But there is no question he showed up and kept the club in every game.  Gotta love some McCarthy.

Now comes word that the Yankees really love him and want him back.  I stand and say "Bravo!" Go get him back!

According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, he and Jason Hammel are both on the radar:

"The Yankees are targeting Brandon McCarthy, Jason Hammel and others in that mid-rotation category for their staff... McCarthy was a revelation for the Yankees, performing superbly after coming from Arizona. He was 7-5 with a 2.89 ERA as a Yankee after being acquired from Arizona for Vidal Nuno after going 3-10 with a 5.01 ERA with the Diamondbacks.

Hammel was brilliant with the Cubs, then not quite as good with the A's. Overall, he was better than McCarthy, though, going 10-11 with a 3.47 ERA."

Hammel has been a guy we've talked about here on BYB off and on for a few years now.  Who knows how serious the Yankees are in pursuing him.

One thing's for sure, we need to lock up McCarthy... that's a must.
