STANDING UP FOR YOGI BERRA

When we last wrote about Yogi Berra and the theft at the Yogi Berra Museum, I was frustrated and aggravated with the robbery and couldn't believe people were that heartless.  Read JUSTICE FOR YOGI.
In it, I wrote:

"There is no question... we need to get these sons of bitches.  It's not only shameful and disrespectful... it's unAmerican.  Yogi Berra served this great nation as well as played and won with the greatest baseball team in sports history."

What I should have written, was how the baseball community needed to come together and help the war hero and Hall of Fame catcher.  Sure, they didn't need to, but they should have and apparently now, they Specifically the New York Yankees and New York Mets. Nice work! Bravo!

According to several sources, and we'll go with the New York Daily News on this on:

"Bud Selig, the Yankees and Mets are making a Hall of Fame donation to baseball icon Yogi Berra, three weeks after burglars stole MVP plaques and World Series rings from Berra’s namesake museum in Little Falls, NJ."

The Yogi Berra Museum and Learning center also put out a statement, saying:

"On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center, we are pleased to announce that Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig and Major League Baseball, the New York Yankees and the New York Mets are graciously donating exact replicas of the items recently taken from the Museum. In addition, they also are donating several new items to our existing collection, ensuring that the Museum will be an even better place for fans to visit in honor of Yogi’s legacy.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to Commissioner Selig and Major League Baseball, the Yankees and the Mets for their generosity, as well as to all of the fans and friends of the Museum for their concern and support during this difficult time."

2 things come to mind.  For 1, kindness makes the world go 'round.  While the true items are not yet recovered, it's incredible to see that people are standing up for Yogi, donating, and doing what they can to help.  After all, this robbery doesn't only affect Yogi Berra, it affects the thousands who want to learn about baseball and Yankee history.  Don't forget, this museum was about education.

The second thing is this... bad things happen to bad people.  Karma is a bitch and who ever stole these items will eventually be caught.  They can't sell them, they probably can't even sell them on the black market without either slipping up or spilling the beans.  Justice will be served, for the Museums visitors and for Yogi Berra. I truly believe that.

Looking forward to that day.  In the meantime, I tip my cap to the Yankees, the Mets and yes... even Bud Selig.
