GET IT TOGETHER, YANKEES!

The lack of offense that the Yankees have put up these last few games made me dread tonights game. I've been just a bit frustrated with them, as I am sure other Yankees have been too. I almost wish Jason Giambi would show up and pass around his GOLDEN THONG. You all know that story right? The magical golden thong that Giambi wore as a slump buster? More than a handful of his teammates have admitted to wearing it as well. It's still unclear whether or not it was washed between uses. Gross, but effective according to every report I've read.

For a while it seemed like the Yankees had this game. They showed sparks of life early, starting with Derek Jeter in the 3rd. He finally broke his 0 for 12 streak, and got an RBI, bringing Ichiro Suzuki in to score. Jacoby Ellsbury followed that up with a 3 run home run. And Mark Teixeira got a pretty nice base hit. And that was all she wrote.

Today, our pitching just didn't have it. Okay, maybe Vidal Nuno wasn't too bad. But our pen struggled. Yoenis Cespedes hit two homers off of us. And our fielding left much to be desired. Put simply, we were out played. It's been a common thread. In the last 4 games, from the 7th inning on, they have been outscored 21 - 0. Golden thong, anyone?

Personally, the game was overshadowed by the news that baseball icon, Don Zimmer, passed away at the age of 83. He spent 66 years in baseball. He was a fount of knowledge for the younger generations that had the opportunity to work with him. Zimmer was a huge part of my childhood, and in me becoming a Yankees fan. Our condolence to his family. The baseball world mourns with you. Rest well, Popeye.
