JESUS MONTERO IS AVAILABLE

Remember when the Yankees had a young, stud, superstar catcher coming up and we were by no means going to trade him? Then we did? Do you remember that?  Well, Jesus Montero is available again.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today:

Now this whole thing sucks for Montero and any fans he gained throughout his "dirty" journey. I mean, let's face it, Yankee fans were very, very excited to see this kid come up and one day take over the catching role after perhaps Jorge Posada retired.

The Yankees gave him a shot when they brought him up briefly and I remember writing, WHY THIS PHOTO OF POSADA & MONTERO SPEAKS VOLUMES, showing a moment between both he and Posada in the dugout and realizing that Posada was passing the torch to the younger catcher, showing him the ropes... talking to him about the game. I caught it, many missed it.

Then, like I said, he was shipped off and sent to the Mariners for Michael Pineda. Little did I know then that his "call-up" was a showcase and Seattle liked what they saw. Anyway, once Montero tested positive for PEDs, it was clear to me, the kid was just like the rest of him and it was disappointing.

Now, there is no question that players can come back from their mistakes. I forgave Melky Cabrera and Bartolo Colon for admitting using PEDs, and I can forgive others like Montero. Hopefully I'm not getting duped. After all, he's young. There is still time for Jesus, but it's just funny how the kid went from being the most coveted rookie... to being very available right now by the Seattle Mariners.

Reputation is an important thing in life, isn't it?
