This frame grab speaks volumes. This is Jorge Posada after Jesus Montero hit his second home run yesterday. They are in the dugout and the broadcasters didn't mention it but it's important to mention. It wasn't Jorge Posada yelling at the young 21 year old phenom. No, no. It was an image of Jesus Montero picking up where Jorge Posada left off. To me, this photograph symbolizes true leadership. See, even though Jesus Montero just cranked out his second homer of the game, Montero's work isn't over, it's just begun. What I mean is, Posada came over to the kid, congratulated him of course, but then probably talked about pitch sequence and Montero's comfort at the plate. You have to give a lot of credit to Jorge Posada for coming over to Montero to talk further about what's next. It was a classy move, especially for a guy that just had his job taken by Montero. One thing Posada has never been is selfish. Don't mistake Posada-gate for selfishness, it was passion for the game. Leading up to Posada-gate, Jorge had been doing the same routine for over 15 years and the idea of him getting pushed down in the lineup was a kick in the stomach. It was ludicrous to him. That's why he took a stand and took himself out of the lineup back then. It wasn't because it was about "all about" him, it was about him not being "there anymore"...startling to say the least.
But, what we've seen in Jorge Posada recently has transformed into teacher. Jorge sees the writing on the wall. Bleeding Yankee Blue will be the only blog that will have this photo on the Internet today because we believe that this screen grab speaks a thousand words. It's teacher and student, it's symbolizes the end and the beginning. It's Posada, our hero, accepting his new role and he's at peace with it now, it's clear. Posada has become that mentor and teacher that he knew he would ultimately become, he just didn't want it to come now.So look, I just wanted to point it out to all for you. We're all so caught up in all that Montero will bring us in the next few months and years to come, and yes it's exciting, but we can't forget the great Jorge Posada.
There's no denying though, Bleeding Yankee Blue knew it would be true. Montero is the new blood that will energize the Yankees. That's what we wrote here on BYB before he got his first his and we believe it. Read WHY MONTERO WILL STIMULATE THE YANKEES.
