Multiple sources are reporting this... and we'll go with Newsday on this one... Derek Jeter and the Yankees have agreed on a 1 year deal.
"The Yankees signed shortstop Derek Jeter to a one-year, $12 million deal, the team announced Friday afternoon... Though the new deal gives Jeter more money than his option would have, it also helps the Yankees in their goal to get under the $189 million luxury tax threshold. Had Jeter triggered his player option by Monday's deadline, his contract for luxury tax purposes would have counted at about $14 million, the average annual value of the original contract."
