SWEPT BY THE DAMN SOX!
I hate the Red Sox. Yeah, it's true, I bought into the rivalry years ago and I love the competition between the 2 teams. The Yankees and Sox are always duking it out and there is always a good game between them... until recently. These days it's clearly slanted. The Red Sox are dominant, great and I'm freaking jealous. There is no more rivalry. There is no more competition. The Yankees look sluggish, they look like amateurs. They are in a different class...lower than the Sox. The Sox deserve what they get this season, they've played well. We'll be lucky if we make it to the Wild card. It's sad really... what the hell happened?
I'd love to give you some type of brilliant analysis of last night's game, but I won't... because I can't. The Yankees' pitching gave up 9 runs last night. The Yankees offense scored twice. There's a gap there... and there has been for some time now. I thought that maybe after having their way with the Orioles we were on our way. This morning, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Look, we're close, but it's going to take a Hail Mary to get us in the playoffs. It still can happen, but faith is fading. This is how it went down last night:
Ivan Nova went 4 innings, gave up 6 hits and 5 runs. After that there was a a motley crew of pitchers, names and scotch tape to just get us through the game. When you look at the box score, it's humiliating. No dominant pitching and just alot of mix and matching.
By the way, that's not Girardi's fault... we no longer have stability! But the point is, if you have to do this every game, pitchers get tired.
The Yankee offense went like this... Alex Rodriguez knocked in Curtis Granderson in the first when he grounded out. Ichiro knocked in Mark Reynolds when he singled in the 9th. OK then.
Final: Red Sox 9 - Yankees 2
We're running out of time ladies and gentlemen, and I hate the playoffs without the Yankees. Today's a day off. Let's regroup and man-handle the Blue Jays starting tomorrow. Go Yanks!
